Actually, I meant to come back and edit this. I wonder if the top comments list is a real analysis or a bit of fudge. For instance, I was surprised to see arcy's name on the list and hadn't noticed a flood of comments from her.

DH is in the media industry and says that most of the top "whatevers" are totally made up.

I don't have that sidebar either.

I have it on my one Houzz page. My other pages are GW and don't have that sidebar.

I don't see it and I don't think I want to. It's a Houzz interface feature that seems to be giving many folks a bit of grief.

I don't see it either... I prefer the gardenweb format, so I don't visit the houzz pages.

I see the sidebar on Home Decorating, but not on the Convo side, it's odd, Home Deco looks like Houzz and this page looks like regular old GW (as does Hot Topics, the only other one I frequent).

The screenshot was from my very old bookmark to the conversations page. It changed to the Houzz format within the past few days.

That doesn't appear on any of the forums I visit. I avoid any forums that display only under the Houzz format although accessing pretty much any forum under the "All Discussions" heading from my main GW page tends to eliminate that unpleasant feature.........I find the Houzz format very awkward and not user-friendly. And not as pleasing to look at, either :-))

I have never seen the side bar. Ever. It's official! D_gw, you are more important here than the rest of us : ) However, I almost never venture to the real houzz side so I am not worthy.

I have the GW version and don't see the side bar unless I click the button up at the top, then it loads the Houzz version. Luckily I can get back to the nicer version :)

lol, I feel like you all think I made this up! I've been here since 2001. I have been using the same bookmark for over a year which recently changed to the Houzz format. If I see your name as a "top commenter", I'll let you know :)

I think it's quite a feat for the Houzz coders to make pages show up differently for different users. So weird.

The same thing has happened to me, d_gw. I can't ever see the GW version of any page if I'm not signed in now, and I have to sign in from one of the pages that has no houzz equivalent, or I get the evil twins, too. If I'm not signed in, I get a redirect to Houzz, every time.

I don't think it's a coding feat, merely not syncing the same things to all the servers yet. I hope it takes them a long time to get around to it.

No, d_gw, I believe you! I went searching for the illusive "top commenters" sidebar and it does exist. I never click on anything that says Houzz for fear I won't find my way back here, but I'm back, so I made it out. I went to "design deliemma" and it was there on the left. I didn't recognize any name on the list except Jan Moyer. It must be for people who post mostly on the Houzz side.

Today I used my bookmark and got a GW page with no Houzz stuff. No top commenters. Weird.

Just wanted to pop by with a couple things.

1. The Top Commenters widget on Houzz is just for fun and a way to see who is very active in the discussions. If you do not want to appear there, but are very prolific, there is a setting in your profile editing page to show or not show your discussions on your profile. If you choose to not show your discussions, you also can't appear in that Top Commenter widget.

2. New users coming to most GardenWeb topics from Google have been going to the same topic, but on the Houzz site. If you are not logged into your account, you will look like a new user and will see the Houzz site. The best way to avoid this for now, is to stay logged in to your current account, so we know you are an existing GardenWeb user. Sorry for the confusion and frustration on this!

3. If there are specific pain points for you on using the Houzz format or features there that are confusing, please comment! That is very helpful to our team in doing their best to make this a place you can continue to enjoy. Thank you!
