orange and apricot English roses
Comments (34)Thanks for the article, orchidtrader. Just a precision. Rosemary Harkness had 2 flushes, Tamora had a short break, but was constantly in bloom. Bare in mind, that this experience, is based on one year roses. When I was in orange/apricot rose search I came upon two roses, one is Westerland, a climbing, fragrant and recurrent rose. http://www.helpmefind.com/rose/l.php?l=2.6065&tab=1 Another one, which I found really beautifully but unfortunately not very fragrant is a miniature climbing rose called work of art. Not an Austin though. Here is a link that might be useful: Work of Art...See Moreyour favorite BS resistant yellow or apricot rose for cutting
Comments (19)Apricot is my favorite color of rose so I do grow quite a few and have found most to be healthy and hardy. I do spray, however, but most of these I think would be okay without it. Nancy Reagan--took 2 yrs to mature, but now--WATCH OUT! Mother of Pearl--Marvelous health, vigor, quantity of bloom Marilyn Monroe--All the goodness of her daddy St. Patrick in an apricot flower. European Touch-Monster bush with tons of flowers and no disease. Tahitian Sunset--Multi-color and fragrant--delicious. Welcome Home--Yellow HT-monster bush and tons of flowers. Southern Belle--Little known J&P yellow with old-fashioned blooms and wonderful fragrance. Gold Medal--The absolute grandiflora standard of perfection About Face--took 2 years to establish, now it is huge and throws scads of beautiful blooms. Hollywood Star--Probably the oveall best John Sheldon hybridyzed rose. Beautiful apricot blooms healthy/hardy Day Breaker--My favorite of ALL roses. Great bush without flowers, breathtaking when loaded with dozens of multi-colored apricot/pink/yellow/cream blooms. John...See MoreShow off your Orange/Apricot Roses, Part II
Comments (15)I second that Kathy! Beautiful roses Seil & Robert! I don't know which is my favorite: Shropshire Lad, Sisters at Heart, Hondo, Lady of Shallott... I just got some cuttings of Tamora in the mail and I'm trying to root them; boy those thorns are something fierce!!! I had no idea they were like that! Thankfully from your pictures, I can see the blooms make up for the thorns :) Tammy...See MoreSHow off your Orange/Apricot Roses!
Comments (21)Beth, you are so right--should have done apricot and orange separately. But since I grow almost none of either one, how was I to know you folks had gone a bit nuts over apricot and orange. I didn't even know there were that many oranges and apricots! (You folks must have "loud" gardens--ha!) Think we are headed for Orange/Apricot, Part II, don't you? Well, let me pick out a few of my favorites upthread. Cheshire and South Africa are lovely--I like golden tones, with some apricot highlights. Honey Perfume belongs in there too. Eureka falls into that golden category also, Beth--and Marilyn Monroe is lovely in her own way also. Don't know quite what to say about a rose like Hot Romance however--it is a gorgeous rose, but I can't imagine it in my garden. Same with Granada and Dolly Parton and Playboy--absolutely breaktaking--but don't they dominate everything within 20 ft? Pat Austin too. I mean like, Wow!! aren't they just too, too stunning? I guess I incline more to roses like Cherish or The CoxSwain. Tammy, that sure is a nice photo of Memerized. Guess I'm going to have to work on my orange appreciation! But don't let my attitude slow you down--pile on the orange! Best way to get me used to it! LOL Kate...See Moresultry_jasmine_nights (Florida-9a-ish)
