Suggestions to "organizing" threads for the growing season of 2018?
Comments (19)I guess for me, the priority is not so much information as the fact that I regard you all as forum mates. Info can be had anywhere - friendship, however distant and attenuated, is much harder to find. But surely we are free to post what we like, when the fancy takes us, so at any moment, someone may feel inspired to ramble on about agastache or heuchera or whatever, then information is there. Not really sure what you mean by organising, to be honest. I know other forums often do a plant alphabet or seasonal categories while some forums are much stricter about appropriate subjects for discussion - going OT is verboten but I rather like the freeform. trajectories as posts go wildly askew while the original thread subject has vanished in a mish-mash of personal (and for me, more interesting) speculations and confessions. I see no reason why we don't carry on much as we have always done, and if anyone wants to talk about specific subjects, then we generally join in. I suppose we could have some formal categories beloved of bloggers...such as Wordless Wednesday or a particular colour or style....See MoreShow us Your Gardens - A photo thread - October 2018
Comments (30)A couple last photos for the month which I couldn’t get to post last time I had time available: Lonicera sempervirens Major Wheeler, a selection of a native honeysuckle, has been blooming since May. It still has a few flowers perfectly placed for viewing from inside the house and will continue to push out a few flowers until we get much colder, usually around the end of November. These have survived several nights into the mid20s....See MoreNovember 2018 -New Home Build Thread
Comments (182)Hello all, I have an update for you on my small house (930 SQFT) Roof was finished and I talk about the price of material and labor. Siding on the house is also going up(I show those prices too) so its starting to look like a house now. Please take a gander at the video and consider subscribing to my youtubes :-) I know my "posts aren't typical for this site" but you can see the construction process and you can get ideas from all the pricing of materials and labor that I show, contractors almost never do that. That's the idea behind the channel to show how much things cost so you have an idea what this process looks like. My 930square foot home is tiny compared to most homes on here, and there are some awesome builds in this thread, but wait till you see my next project it will trully be tiny! Come and take a look at me climbing the roof lol. /cheers...See MoreDecember 2018 New Build Thread
Comments (176)dsnine, we've been so busy with the move then we finally made it month ago, I'm primarily working away hence not much at home and try and make the best of it when I am. I took these pics this morning; I'll wait for tile work to complete, then a few cabinets installed around bar and fireplace, before providing further updates. No it is not zero entry on one side, left side is a bench. The shower is 10'4" x 4'2". Two person? It is certainly large enough for a few but no way, be just one person with choice of 2 rain showers plus 2 large hand showers on rails and 4 jets, just about enough for fun showering. What you see in the view is the sea, its a harbor. We are a shade over a mile from the freeway and 16 miles to the airport....See MoreSwety Bear (Central MS ZONE 8)
