Comments (17)Oh yeah, homegrown lemons, and now Bizzo can make some of those lemon drop martinis! The coasters are cool and those candles are very unique, I'll bet the ripe pear one smells really good. So, how long can you leave a bottle of wine with a stopper before it's not good to drink any more? I figured you just had to drink the whole bottle, LOL> Annie...See MoreDirect Buy -- total scam or useful?
Comments (23)I guess I will be the only positive post in this thread. ;) DH and I have a DirectBuy membership, although when we got it it cost around $2000 if I recall correctly. We were students at the time and have since gotten married (invitations and accessories came from DB) and bought a house. We also got our full set of appliances + big upright freezer for excellent prices. It's also a good place to get some gift items - like the Royal Doulton set we got for my MIL. Can't forget our big tv and entertainment set also. One of the good things is that they have a lot of different manufacturers to choose from with an endless selection. I can be indecisive so sometimes all the selection is a bad thing however. ;) Some items the deals are not that great on - for example certain electronics items. Others are more than 50% off (like that Royal Doulton stuff). Overall I think we have gotten our money's worth. It's also nice not to have to wait for sales, we can just buy whenever. Delivery times can be up to 6-8 weeks depending on where the item is coming from (I'm in Canada). However we got our appliances 3-4 days after ordering (was supposed to be 6-8 wks also) so I guess it depends on what the manufacturer has in the warehouse. Oh, one more thing they have at our local store - gas, grocery, and restaurant gift cards which you get at a discount (handy, since it's stuff I'd buy anyway, and very nice with the price of gas!). I can totally see how folks who are not planning to buy many "big ticket" items would lose money on this. Also, I was not a fan of the hard sales pitch, yuck! But overall it's not nearly as bad as the other posts made it seem IMO....See MoreClever ideas for displaying vintage kitchen towels?
Comments (24)I saw a small rustic ladder in an antique mall a week or so ago that I might be able to prop up at the end of the buffet in my breakfast room. Then again, the cats would probably proceed to repeatedly knock it over for me. :-/ I am just so limited on space, and even so, I found myself bidding on (and winning) yet another cute vintage towel on eBay last night! I'm addicted, I tell ya! Although these racks aren't the most spectacular-looking things on the planet, I am considering buying a couple of them and putting them on the side of my fridge that faces towards the kitchen counter/sink. They are magnetic, so that would definitely work on the fridge. I figure I could display at least 3 towels on each rack....See MoreWow! Either I'm really rich or going to jail!
Comments (23)Talking about scammers, almost every day I get a friend request on Facebook from some handsome 50 something, widowed man. I know it is a scam, but on looking at their friends list, they usually have none to show or just a few very elderly ladies. Sometimes their descriptions are really funny, because it is obvious that english is not their first language. And I know a woman who fell for one of these guys. She is a widow, and had a little money. Not wealthy but able to live comfortably. She came to see me one day. She had been out looking at houses for sale. Told me about her new "guy", who was originally from Virginia, but working in Indonesia, as an electrician and making $750,000 a year. He was due to come see her that weekend. She had been out and got a new manicure and pedicure and even had her makeup tattooed on...in expectation of his impending visit. Of course he had some kind of problems and she had to send him $5000. I told her he was probably a Nigerian. Couldn't convince her. I told her to please bring him to meet me, if he showed up. Of course, he didn't. I don't know how much money she ended up sending him....See Morebossyvossy
