Cut it up with a reciprocating saw. Very little dust generated. Just wear a dust mask. It doesn't make dust like fiberglass insulation does. I just cut one up a few weeks ago.

What is the dust, drywall dust, dirt, sanding dust? What type of finish are you going to put on it? If it's an oil-based finish, I wipe down with a rag dampened in naphtha. With water-based, just a dry cloth. If it's really bad, you can blow it off with compressed air, but that simply makes it airborne, unless you have a way to capture it. Maybe an electrostatic product like Swiffer? Using any sort of product like Endust is likely to contaminate the wood in unfavorable ways, unless you know exactly the composition of that product. In any case avoid Pledge(r) or you will cause yourself a massive case of silicone contamination that will wreak havoc on any finish. Some people like tack cloths, but I find it's just one more thing to get in the way.

It is a good observation dadoes. I do not have an answer. Mamapinky, when I finished washing with stpp the whole room had something it did not have before. So, I know that whatever ingredient it is was definitely strong and it was not in the clothes before. I have rinsed the clothes and the washer many times - with TOL detergent, with vinegar rinsed by hand. Nothing has made the clothes or the washer back to their original form again.

The trouble is his hair also gets on clothes even with grooming regularly. And then it does seem basically like we need tweezers, and while I will accept that some stuff may just need that attention because of the weave, it seems wrong that it sticks so well even to smoother textured stuff like leggings and yoga pants. Luckily before we got him someone taught him that he isn’t allowed on furniture unless a blanket is there first, so the damage on furniture is limited. We just keep a few throw-type things handy to put down when he’s going to be allowed up. I’m working on teaching him that being vacuumed is fun (get the hair before it can get stuck anywhere else!) but that’s a process. And I’m sure he will still shed some between grooming sessions because all dogs do. So I should try a normal amount of fabric softener in the wash? We haven’t typically felt the need for it but that was pre-dog-hair-dilemma. (For towels I do add white vinegar in the rinse because I don’t like it when they come out crunchy.)
