Best way to remove dust from clothes and blankets ?

I emptied out DS's former bedroom closet, as I needed more storage. We'd been stuffing things in there ever since he went off to college. (That's more than 10 years ago, LOL.)

I'm surprised how much dust got in there. It has bi-fold doors, I guess that allows too much dust to get in.

After deleting all the donations, I found a nice fleece jacket that I could use myself. It's a very dense, thick, not fluffy fleece. But the shoulders are quite dusty.

A favorite all-cotton loose-woven blanket (which I gave up as lost years ago) was in a box on the floor. But the lid had come off, so that's dusty too.

I don't want to end up embedding the dust. What's the best approach? Just fluff in the dryer? I have both a delicates/knits and an air fluff setting.

Or is washing best? I hesitate to wash the jacket. Thanks.
