Comments (9)Thank you all for your compliments! The Cl.Pinkie is also one of my favorites and I love how she has done in that corner. Very easy to train rose. Juliet- Thank you for such a beautiful description. Yes, Summerville is a beautiful place to live. It is also called Flower Town as it if full of flowers all year and had loads of gorgeous old plantation houses. Just 20-30 min from historic Charleston. Just yesterday I went for a walk downtown and admired the courtyard gardens full of roses, lovely little flower boxes bursting with color and lots of other flowers. Must come and visit sometime! Masha- Ducher was stunning this year. IN the pic of the driveway border its the one not blooming. She was the first to come into her spring flush. Ingrid- Thank you, yes I do put a lot of thought into flower choices and combination. Cottage gardening is my style and I try to keep the eye flowing through the garden with repeating colors and heights. I do still have a lot of grass and I am working on it. I do have another large rose/perennial bed with several other roses and plants but they are not in the photos. I have the whole side yard planned out but due to the hard terrible clay soil I have started doing the lasagna bed method of laying down cardboard and layering like a compost pile. It worked fantastic last year! I love this method, saves my back, the plants I planted this spring have taken off in it. I'll show some pic's soon. ~Meghan...See MoreA few from my garden wasalk this morning May 6
Comments (4)Caliloo, Thank you for showing your very nice hostas! How old are your streaked seedlings? Perhaps 3 or 4 years old? I am interested in that because right now I am growing hosta seedlings under light. They are covering the surface of styrofoam cups now, growing slooowly. When I am done with culling and potting up in 2 weeks or so, I plan to have 20 streaked seedlings, plus 15 other seedlings left. How did the leaf markings of your streaker seedlings look when they were half a year old, very different to the present ones? I read that they change from year to year. Comments (17)Your Electron is pretty. I have one now, but it hasn't been going full blast since last year's bad Easter freeze. I think it will recover. Electron takes a couple years to get established, but once it gets going, and if it can be kept healthy, it will do quite well. Keeping it disbudded to make it one bloom per stem will keep you up nights, and it does have thorns. I hope rust is not a problem in your area because I have had problems in the past with rust on Electron. This is just a heads-up for that one. Your Christopher Columbus is quite showy. I haven't seen much of that one. I don't have it at the moment either, but it has a bright color. It appears similar in color to Kordes' Brilliant. That one can stop traffic also. Your Dream Come True almost looks like Perfect Moment, but I can't be sure because I am not growing Dream Come True. It has a nice color to it. The form of the flower is a question in my mind. The one you are unsure about, the pink and white one, could be any number of flowers, but it looks too shy on petal count to be Kordes' Perfecta, which I have, or Moonstone, which I do not have but have seen plenty of, and it doesn't look like my Secret. So, other than say it has a nice color to it, I have to withhold judgment....See MorePhotos from my garden
Comments (5)Looks great. IF I had the room? I like those mixed plantings of Bougs. Right now,I get by on a potted Boug. My old in ground one I had to remove...too much shade had reduced blooms ( ash tree got tall) and those thorns were wicked near stairs....See Moretropicalguy
