I think Mint will meet your needs. It has smartphone apps as well as PC browser access. It keeps your financial information up to date by periodically downloading transactions automatically, so long as your accounts are with institutions that have that capability. Most do but not all.

I don't want it to download anything automatically, I want to import the data I have separately downloaded. But, it's worth a try.

Elmer, I just opened Mint and realized why I didn't use it - it requires an Intuit account. I want something which is only on my phone.

Have a look at Cash Organizer. I have it on my Android phone and PC. I tried a number of other apps and I like it. Some like Mint want your banking information which I did not feel comfortable with. I like to enter my transactions myself. My daughter runs it on her iPhone and love it.

Is there a problem with having an Intuit account? All your financial access over the internet (including with banks and others) involves a user name (or email address) and password. How do you see doing that very same thing with an Intuit log-on as being any different?

I'm not sure if this is unsolvable, but my bank allows only one computer to connect with it; if I want to connect with another one, it wants me to change the password and then the previous computer doesn't connect. What I can do is to log on to my bank account and download a .csv file with all the account information. I would like to simply read in that file, all done on a computer. Of course, I could copy that file to my phone, but that's unnecessary.

Hmm. How does your bank know you're using just one PC - does it send a token/cookie that has to be kept? What happens when you clear the browser's cache or use a different browser, do you need to authenticate yourself again? That's nuts, a deal breaker for me.

There are too many user-friendly banks to choose from, no need to stick with one that's not. Not long ago, I opened a new account (with a big name bank I would deal with online only) that had a good interest rate on basic savings and (over the phone) insisted that certain features of use I wanted were fully implemented. One month later, they implemented a two-step verification for each log-on (which was really annoying) and busted my ability to update with Quicken as I do otherwise with ALL my other accounts. I closed the account, moved my money elsewhere, and told them why.

Did you check to see if an online PC session with Mint offers the capability to upload file input for non-linked financial accounts?

Thanks for your thoughts; I'm continuing to pursue various options. Most of my banking is done in person, so the convenience of the bank is important and this one has branches very close to my home and workplace.
