Heading to San Antonio tonight!

I have to work for 4 hours, at least. I hope no one calls in so I can still leave early. Lauren and I are then leaving as soon as I get home. Going to stay only 3 days, just for the graduation ceremonies and one day to spend with him after that. He gets 5 days of town pass because of the Christmas holiday, normally they only get 2 and 2 days of base pass. We're leaving Sunday morning but he'll have friends he can hang out with who live there. We've "adopted" one of the guys in his flight. Thought it would be some young kid, much younger than Alex, nope, he's 29! Alex said he has more gray hair than I do lol. I'm so proud of my son!

HAVE: Plant Swap in San Antonio May 3rd

We will be having a plant swap at the Schultze House on May 3rd from 10-1. The address is 600 Hemisfair Plaza Way - that is located behing the Federal Courthouse/Federal Building on Durango. You an google the address or go to mapquest for directions. I'm not good at directions, but you can exit from Hwy 281 heading toward Alamo St. and turn into the area marked "Ranger Station" - you can't park there, but you can unload your plants. We will issue tickets for plants then you can "pay" with your tickets. There will be someone to check you in and out. We had a ball last fall and look forward to meeting new friends Saturday. We went on Sunday and were not impressed. Lots of traffic getting in and out, only to find booths selling cheap knock-offs and junk. I was hoping for antiques or gently used items (the pre-owned selection was worse than garage sales). I thought there might be at least one booth for woodworking and other homemade specialties, but no such luck. There was one booth with plants (mostly houseplants), but nothing of interest to me; another booth had a bunch of pretty glazed pots, but they were very expensive even though they weren't anything special (looked like they "accidentally fell off a truck" like most of the booths' wares). Also, I didn't look it up but I bet selling live baby kangaroos is illegal. Obviously I had invalid expectations!

Water softener, yes or no? San Antonio, TX

I used to live in Austin and desperately needed a softener there. We were concerned about that slimy feeling too, but you can control how much salt you use and we couldn't even tell we had one. It made a world of difference in everything else though. You can also look at water conditioners. People swear by them, and with one, you don't need softener. I'm still trying to figure out the pros and cons of each.
