why does my cat pee on my bed?
Comments (28)I haven't posted on any forum on GW for a long time, but this one really got to me. Not in a bad way... it just did. My cat has peed for forever...off and on. Let's see. Got him in 1995 (my roommate got his sibling). Pee'ed everywhere (beds, chairs, carpet). Moved out in 1996. Pee'ed everywhere (cats outside the window). 1997-2000. Lived in a place with no cats outside. No peeing anywhere but the box. 2000-2003. Another place with no cats. No peeing. 2003-2004- Moved to a place with cats outside. He started to pee again. Husband threatened to kill one of us! LOL. Actually not so funny. I cried almost everyday. 2004-Saw the vet, linked the history, and my cat is on prozac as of about 2 years ago. No problems since. My problem (not MY problem...my cats problem...LOL) was territoriality. Don't discount the drugs in certain situations. It's best to be open-minded. It worked for my cat. I was considering giving him away or euthanasia...didn't want to do either. This problem had seriously affected my home life, which is why I was thinking about serious solutions. I'm glad I still have my cat. I adopted him, so he became my responsibility, and I don't take that lightly. Talk to your vet. And good luck from someone who sympathizes....See MoreProblems with my cat peeing in her own bed
Comments (5)Not sure what tests your vet might have done already...do they recommend any additional testing (bloodwork, urinalysis, urine culture, ultrasound or radiographs to look for things like stones)? Do they think it's feline interstitial cystitis? Or? If they've done all those diagnostics, here are some suggestions.... I'd have at least three litterboxes for two cats. Try big boxes (think large rubbermaid containers with a U cut in the side so they can get in easily, uncovered), clumping litter (try Dr. Elsey's cat attract litter, you can get it delivered from amazon or chewey, etc.), no liner, placed in quiet places (not near the dryer or something). I would personally try two litterboxes per floor. Clean them twice daily, as cats prefer their boxes to be very clean. Every couple of weeks, scrub the boxes out with soap and water. If they get grungy, just throw them out and get new boxes. Get more cat trees and beds to reduce stress (cats like to be up high, so make sure they can get up high), give separate food and watering stations. Cat fountains encourage drinking, which can help with certain conditions such as feline interstitial cystitis (I like thirsty cat fountains, available online and on etsy). Feliway diffusers can help with stress. Try placing a small washable bedpad (or disposable kennel pad) in kitty's bed and cover with a comfy, washable, thin blanket, so you don't have to wash the whole bed if there's an accident. Kitty may have decided she prefers to urinate on that sort of surface. If that's what she wants...try using disposable kennel pads in a litterbox. I have a friend whose kitty insists on this setup. But, I suspect that something is happening every few days to make the litterbox a less desirable place, leading to the urinating in her bed. Is the other kitty ambushing her in the litterbox, maybe? Definitely clean every box twice daily....See MoreCrawl space smell like cat pee?
Comments (10)That may be the case for you but i warn people we had the exact opposite result. We put everything in a air tight bin control and all the different varibles plastic soil, just plastic and just soil and the bin when there is is moisture on the plastic it gives off this smell our soil just smelled like soil it can happen within amonth of testing soil and plastic amonia, just just plastic amonia when it is dry there is no smell sometime even if moisture is under neath and not on top no smell once some moisture gets above the plastic you get this smell. hope this helps....See MoreCan I use polyurethane over kilz 3? Comments (1)Yes, you can apply poly over it. You need to abrade first. But, you are better off, replacing that section of the subfloor if, it still has a odor....See Moreannztoo
