regus thank you for the suggestion of a boom box since I am thinking it may be a good idea for that room or even for my home office room. I decided to look again for a smaller stereo for my spare bedoom since I just don't like having my stereo take up so much room and it looks like a pair of nice speakers are costly anyway and then have to be compatible with my system. Does anyone have an opinion on the five "stereo's" I narrowed my search down to so I can back to focusing on getting my work done at night instead of researching? There have less power than I had been looking at but they are the size I want and have decent reviews. Sony MP3 CD Boombox, Model ZSSN10S $79.99 in black and silver. Has very good ratings especially with radio reception and I like the way it looks. Sony ZS-S2iP Boombox for the iPod (white) that is pretty and maybe in the future I could buy an iPod for $89.95 Onkyo MC35Tech Executive Shelf System with 3 CD Changer. Has very good ratings of the sound quality despite only 20 watts per channel and 70 watts per the speakers. I like the way they look, their small micro size and maybe the $319.99 price is worth it? They have an attachment for an iPod and play MP3 files, etc. Then there is the JVC DVD Micro Componenet System in either the JVC UXg50 discontinued model selling by some places for $129.99 that plays 5 CD's and is very compact also with 240 watts of power and decent reviews or the JVC UXg70 that is the newer model with reviews not as good but good that also plays 5 CD's. I can place links in a posting if anyone wants to help me. I have so much work to do and I guess getting that dresser for that spare room and trying to make it look nice is having me really want a smaller stereo.

Linked is one of the nicest IPOD interfaces on the market. Gives you best quality input and control of your ipod using factory stereo controls. Because your car is so new most of the other companies dont yet list compatibility with your car. There will be less expensive options coming Im sure. Note that if you have the XM tuner, or external CD changer (not the 6 disc in the dash) you will not be able to use this product it uses that port on the back of the radio. Cathrugg, Thank you so much for posting this question. As you can see in the pic below, I have a rather primitive set-up for listening to music outside. (boom box under the metal bench) I thought I had looked at/reviewed every outdoor/wireless speaker set-up online but I've not seen this one you posted. This one from Brookstone looks very good! But you said it cuts off the music from the original speakers? No way to override that? I'm going to go to Epinions and some other places and see what they say about this speaker and they might have a way to override problem or offer other makes/brands. I'll be keeping an eye out on this post of yours because the holidays are around the corner and lots of times our adult kids want to go in together and get me and hubby and combined gift----this outdoor speaker would be perfect for our needs!

I saw this the other day, and my first thought was, what a silly, ill-thought design. I don't think it will be very effective. You turn the ignition off, it makes a noise. That's it? So every time you go somewhere, you can count on hearing a very annoying noise as soon as you turn the car off (to go with all the other annoying noises), because you can't possibly make it to the car seat to undo the baby before the noise starts. In behaviour sciences / learning theory, it's clear that alert sounds and alarms can only modify behaviour if there is a correct action to take to prevent it, in this case there is not. Not to mention, over time the possibility of becoming desensitized to the "going to happen anyway" sound. It all seems very frustrating. I think it especially won't be effective because people will return the seats / throw them in the garbage. The parents who care enough to buy this kind of seat are the ones who are most unlikely to forget their child. For the person who has similarly somehow forgotten the sound (perhaps gotten out of the car to get something out of the trunk first), this new seat doesn't do anything more for that child. If I were designing a car seat with built-in protection, I would put a pressure sensor under the seat, a high tech thermometer sensing the air temperature, both connected to a transmitter with gps location. If a child is sitting in the seat and the car is over, say, something like 90 - 100 degrees or so, it puts out an immediate signal to police so they can come save the baby.
