Installing track lighting on a wood beam

I'd like to install two four-foot tracks, one on each side of an exposed wooden support beam. I can't figure out where to put the junction box(es). I see track lighting on beams in photos, but I can't see where they put the box!

The lights I purchased have a standard track with the flat plate that goes over a recessed box. What if you can't recess the box? It's an industrial look- can I surface mount a metal junction box? If I do, how do I get the track up over the side of the box? If I put the box on the adjacent wall in the standard fashion, how do I get the track to make the right angle bend over to the box? Ugh. Do I have to put a big hole through the beam to inset a junction box to make this work?

The company that makes your track may have a 'surface mount' connector that would allow you to forego the need for a junction box, OR, they may have an extension cable that allows for a remote location of a junction box. Your best bet is to contact the track manufacturer or look online for accessories & connectors from that company.

It is very possible you will get this to work. The beams are pretty far away (20ft ceilings?) and the doors look more in the 'brown' range than the reds. Hickory has 5-7 different colours in it. The stain will lessen this to 2-3. The little bit of variation will help tremendously. If the floors arrived yesterday, where are they being acclimated? When is the 'installation' slated to start? Has anyone tested the moisture of the planks? Traditionally the installer is on hand for the delivery (whenever possible) and the installer stacks/racks the wood properly. While doing this s/he also does random Moisture Content (MC) readings of (roughly) 10% of the planks. This is the 'starting point' for the wood's acclimation. The installer also deals with the current subfloor situation (MC rating for either plywood or concrete slab). The installer would write down ALL of these readings and hand a copy over to you once the install is finished. Has any of this been done?

located in florida. i am working in IT and have bit experience installing tankless water heater, tiles, wood flooring... but with concrete ceiling i am out of options kind of and wood beams would look good since i am planning to have white walls, ceiling and bright ceramic tiles.

If the goal is to illuminate the ceiling and you don't care about having adjustable heads, you could use LED strip (tape) lights with or without a channel. Various tape lights are dimmable, allow you to change the (white) color temperature, and even the color. Strip light sections can be linked together with cables to allow one power source and control.
