If you are referring to lighting, a rough estimate/generalization: Add width of room to length of room in feet. Then take the sum of those two numbers and that is how many approximate inches the light should be in width. For example a 10' by 12' room would need a light approximately 22 inches in width. (10' + 12' = 22") This is a generalization as lighting needs for any room should consider: Goal for lighting that particular space, ceiling height, number of bulbs, wattage, type of light fixture ect... Laundry room: 6'10"Wx 11'7.5"L = 18" Hallway: 3'Wx4'L = 7" Mudroom: 12Wx 10'8"L = 23" Pantry: 3'5"Wx5'9"L = 10" Or if it is flush mount something else... never mind. :)

Thanks for the feedback. We don’t have the budget to work with a lighting designer and we aren’t in the US, but I appreciate the offer! RL - thank you for the mock ups. I like the drum ones and I think I’ve seen something similar at Home Depot. I really wanted a black foyer light but the one I like has been discontinued and it’s only available now in the satin. Everything else I see is either too trendy or too ornate. I’ll keep looking. I can also go darker on the paint colour to get it to pop a little better. It’s a big space with a good amount of natural light so I think it could handle saturated wall colour.

Not sure of floor bath shower window space etc but added some inspos. Ladders and other things for towels, a unique option for hand town on the sink or toothbrush holder etc but with the idea to give you some inspo.
