Help with TV location for Family Room
Comments (16)justgotta - Thanks! You know, that is an idea I hadn't even thought about - and am intrigued. It could be the best location. It is currently shelves behind for game storage; but there are lots of other places to keep games in the built-ins on the other wall as well as the basement/playroom. I'll have to see what we can do with that! Thanks! bonnie - thanks for the welcome - no, never posted before! terriks - that's what I tried to do... but it kept giving me an error message! vampire - these are my inspiration pix for the sunroom. The fabrics are from Calico Corners - they still have them - I think the close-up picture is from their spring catalog. I have a dark sky blue white white trellis pattern carpet in mind which I will probably do a wall-to-wall over the existing white ceramic tile - don't have pic of that. I also like the floral rug, but it might be too much. I also like the two orange rugs in the other photos... I don't think that will go so well with the blue/green. Maybe I could incorporate it into the guest room somehow. I love orange - my current dining room is orange and I am going to paint the new one orange, too!...See MoreFamily room furniture arrangement and tv placement help
Comments (2)i would not place over the fireplace, that is too high. you can put on an arm on the left side of the book case where the slot is for a smaller one or leave on the wall it is on, then i would give it a larger console. i think i would continue to have the sofa face the fireplace then have two swivels on the right side of the couch so they can turn to the fireplace, the tv, or the couch. i would not even ask about shelves i would quickly have them filled. if that step down gives a problem i think the least expensive solution is a slanted piece of wood shoved against it. well and glued down. if you ever want a little more color or zip, let me know can give you at the least some cool pillowsl. let me know....See Moreideal fireplace/TV arrangement for family room
Comments (11)Have you thought about reducing the corners and simplifying this house plan? Here is a hurried attempt at some possibilities. Reduced the jogs and bump ins/outs. One decent size dining area. More of a flow/traffic pattern between master bedroom, closet and laundry (which is to to right of mudroom.) Garage door entering more into mudroom to encourage containment of everyone's things. If you do away with the half bath, using your second bath for kids and guests, there would be more square footage for utility storage or some pantry space. Re-routing the walk way to bedrooms and closing up the great room corner could give you a spot for the tv, or flip and put tv on main wall, fireplace on shorter wall? Ran out of time with kids bedrooms, but I think I would opt for reach in closets, using their placement as a buffer to the great room wall and bathroom. I also would put a closet in your entry and how about an exterior door in your master? Hope this gives you some ideas-...See MoreNeed help-Styling/decorating ideas for a former TV nook
