What are you feeding your mollys? If you are just feeding crushed flakes then yes they will grow extremely slow. Breeders feed newly hatched brine shrimp.....you should be able to buy eggs at your pet store. If available to you, micro worms, grindal worms and white worms....usually from live cultures that you might be able to get from a member of an aquarium society. Once big enough frozen blood worms and other foods can be introduced. These foods will make them grow fairly quickly. Now having said that.....sometimes fry don't grow for a reason.....could be water quality...or could be deformities that arn't visible because they are really small. Hope this helps. Sierra

Total agreement about the scariness of some roses. I like the cellular phone idea. My own bugbear is 'Jaune Desprez'. It looks so soft, flowers, foliage, and habit, that it fools me every time into forgetting its wicked thorns. Generally I think the Asian roses are worse than the Europeans, which have lots of prickles and bristles but generally without the stabbing capacity of the Asians (I agree that 'Quatre Saisons' and sport are an exception). When I got another plant of 'Mermaid' started I just gave it a spot where it could mound to its heart's content without any intervention on my part, and I think this would also be the best way to grow 'New Dawn'. My two plants of ND didn't want to climb, so I just cut them back into big shrubs. Part of what makes them so difficult, as someone mentioned, is that they want to grow right down to the ground, so that getting in under them is difficult and painful. Truscifi, First Happy Birthday tomorrow. Mine was today. I live in Lake county and I have a raised garden. I have cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes, and eggplant. I water for an hour a day at about 7am. My vegetables have the sun from noon till it goes down. My cucumbers got blooms this sunday. I planted on March 19th, started some of everything a couple weeks in the house except cucumbers. Hope yours start to grow soon.

Tessa, perennial gardening requires a bit more than just planting things in dirt. That you've got a garden plan is good news. The next question is, did you consider your garden before you created the plan? Do you know where there's full sun/part sun/part shade/full shade? Do you know what type of soil you have? Mine is slightly acidic sandy loam so my garden plan took that into account when I selected perennials I wanted to grow. I also did a shade study on June 21, the summer solstice, so I'd know how much sun each area of my property received since I garden on an acre of land. That allowed me to plant a wider variety of perennials since many need part sun or part shade or full shade. I knew I had healthy soil--my parents practiced organic gardening (i.e., no chemicals) for 50 years before I moved here. Soil and moisture are huge factors in how successful a garden will be. You may not have as much area in which to garden as do I but don't give up and short-change yourself. Another tip: tease out the roots of perennials in pots before you set them in the ground. Plants will sometimes start growing roots in circles inside pots when they'd really prefer sending roots downward into soil. I lost an expensive perennial a few years back when I failed to tease out its roots so it could grow. Now I always tease the roots of things after I take them out of their pots.
