I live in an county in northern CA that is still struggling with the recovery from the recession. There are very few homes that have been built over the past 3 years; consequently, nurseries are having a hard time. I found a nursery that had a huge selection of choice roses growing in 5 gallon fiber pots. These were marked down from $29.95 to $10.00. I had just moved into a home on 1 acre that was not landscaped. Some of the roses that we piled into the pick up included: Munstead Wood, The Squire, Claire Austin, Brother Cadfael, A Shropshire Lad, Bishop's Castle, Graham Thomas, Heather Austin, Lady Emma Hamilton, Tea Clipper, Lichtfield Angel, Sir John Betjemen, St. Swithun, Strawberry Hill, The Generous Gardiner, Windemere, Gina Lollabrigida, Jean Giorno, Centennial Star, Abbaye de Cluney, Eden, Red Eden, Black Baccara, and White Eden. Other good buys: 5 gallon citrus trees marked down from $30 to $10: Sanguinella Blood Orange, Moro Blood Orange,Tarocco Blood Orange, Oro Blanco Grapefruit/Pumello hybrid, Eustis Limquat. Vincent Female Kiwiplant and Male Pollentator Kiwiplant, marked down from $15 to $5 each. Pomegranates in 5 gallon containers, marked down from $30 to $10: Sharp Velvet, Ambrosia, and Desertni. Pear trees in 5 gallon pots marked down from $30 to $10: Bartlet, Warren, Seckel, and California (Red Bartlett x Comice); also Apple, "Belle de Boskoop". I have never seen bargains like this before in all my years of gardening!

Tamara, yes that drop down does pop up, but when I'm typing in something to search I type it very quickly and hit "enter". The drop down doesn't show up in time to remind that I have to click something before hitting "enter". That mistakes causes me to have to either hit the back button or get lost and have to restart by finding the roses forum and try again. One example: When I'm in the Roses forum I search "memories" and hit enter. Many threads from many different forums pop up, and I realize that I forgot to wait for the drop down. I erase the "s" to force the drop down to show up and all that shows up is search in Gardenweb and Advice - no Roses option. I find it incredibly annoying to have to wait for the drop down and select the forum every single time I want to search something new - an extra step that I nearly always forget, especially when I'm engrossed in my research. That is why I'm still struggling with the search. If I'm coming off as irritated or angry I don't mean to be; I'm just tired at the moment. Wow. Some people like to read in a tone that was never meant. If people were offended by my statement... that isn't on me. Conversations online are in a sterile environment where facial features, tone and inflections are missing. Too many times people read rudeness into a comment that was never meant to be rude. And too often what one person interprets as rude is passed on to others because they assume that the first person was correct in their interpretation. I so often tell people, "If a comment seems rude to you, reread it with a different tone in your head and see if it sounds better and then assume THAT was the tone the comment was suppised to be in." The things I said were mostly point-of-fact. As I said, sort of, I 'used' to get frustrated by non-Floridians piping in until I figured out why. Since then, IF I respond to someone who does this, I politely explain the differences of growing in Florida. This doesn't change the fact that people still do it. Just the other day we had someone say, "If they can grow hydrangeas in South California, you should be able to in Florida." I knew why this person was commenting on the topic and I simply explained the differences of growing in Florida and California. Yes, Google searches often bring up GW as sources for many garden topics. I have seen this while doing searches of my own and yes this happened before Houzz, but post resurrections happen quite but more often now and by some people whose profiles show they have been members for some time, suggesting another factor is involved. The OP questioned if someone from Ohio would find a topic through a Most Recent method and I explained that not only was Most Recent an option, but the others were too. Perhaps the 'rude' part was me using the term Knee-jerk' as a descriptor of people who don't pay attention to simple details before commenting, but people who only pay attention to one aspect of topic without taking into consideration other obvious details do have a knee-jerk quality. If someone said that I was too dry, bland or too technical in how I comment on things, I wouldn't get bent out of shape because it IS a quality of mine and I came to terms with it a long time ago. When I post, I do so in a bland way. I try not to insult people, but I also don't tip-toe on eggshells worried that something I say could be taken the wrong way, because again, that isn't on me.

This pair of fantastic Milo Baughman lounge chairs from chairish. I have a single of the same chair that I picked up years ago for cheap ($350) and our new house was crying out for a pair. I've been looking for years but didn't want to pay the newly inflated prices of recent years as mid mo has gotten so hot. This pair was reasonably priced so I decided to get both and paid $1500. They were sold with a vile red 90s cheap fabric so I was planning on new fabric, but when I got them home and tore off the fabric, I got to the fantastic original mustard velvet and original Thayer coggin tags. Which was a total and welcome surprise. This color works so well in our mid century home. Unfortunately the velvet is in bad condition.... so I'll still be refinishing. Still a good deal as restoration hardware has just reissued a bunch of almost the same style baughman chairs for about $4000 each. But I love a good refinishing project:)
