Ligustrum leaf issues
Comments (0)Dear Bonsai community! I have a small ligustrum plant, and it appears to be in a bad condition for some time. The newly born leaves are falling in a week, sometimes even after some days. Some are discolured, like you can see on the attached photos. Do you have any tips what can cause this? Maybe some kind of infection? (This is the only bonsai I have) Thank you in advance!...See MoreLigustrum Issues.
Comments (2)Put the tree outside now, for life. It has no business indoors, let alone in an east window, especially in the UK. Your friend may have watered too much or not enough - can't tell from here obviously - but it won't get better where it is and not knowing anything else about it, what it's in, etc. can't say more now. For the first week or so however, if possible, move it out of direct sun during midday for a few hours (again, not knowing your day to day weather, it's hard to say)....See MorePrivet Hedges (Ligustrum) - Dormant or Growing?
Comments (1)they have been in the ground only 2 months... and are already thinking about more fert??? you will kill these things with too much love ... they are shrubs.. not children ... i have NEVER fert'd a shrub.. ever... they dont need it.. so dont ever waste your money in the regard again.. as far as i am concerned.. spend it all on water .... and i suspect.. that the only thing failing here.. is your expectation of what a new transplant can do.. in two freakin months ... they are growing roots.. which you can not see.. thats this years job.... insure proper water.. and nothing else.. for the next two years ... see link.. if you varied from anything in brandons directions.. lets discuss such ... your recent transplants need to get 'established' ... grow roots to support the growth above.. next year ..... and that requires.. wait for it.. water .. nothing else.. you can not force feed them into becoming established ... please dont love them to death.. just water them .. see link ... ken Here is a link that might be useful: link...See MoreAll Day Sunshine versus Semi Day Sunshine
Comments (5)Thank you for sharing your experiences so I can right my perspective. Gardening this time of the year and with this intensity is new. I dunno what I'm doing at this point. There is one other common denominator between the growies struggling beneath full day sun: WIND. It is windy in these areas. And there it is. Water So, the impact of the sun in this case is but a symptom of an underlying problem. It's probably both soil nutrients and lack of water. My clay loam in other areas really spoiled me. I can plant aggressive flint corn this densely in my weed free clay loam and get a full stand of healthy corn, albeit less production. For the record: There is an immature black walnut tree growing ten feet away. That is pine needles and pine "stuff" that I used as a mulch. Free and abundant to me. Look pretty when you first put it down, but it doesn't retain moisture or protect as a weed barrier as well as hay in this experience....See Moreken_adrian Adrian MI cold Z5
