The length is too short as is. You could probably remedy this by adding a 4x4 dark colored heavy duty rug right in front of (behind?) the door and shifting the runner up a pinch. Doing so will make the runner appear appropriately sized and also protect the floors directly adjacent to the door from all the foot traffic.

I think you runner is too narrow.

Center the rug in the space in front of the table and between the columns. Long red rectangle below..

Get a neutral solid rug (in one of the colors from this rug) to center in the space in front of the door. Do not get a small rug here it needs to be wider than the door. Smaller red rectangle below...

You've chosen a beautiful runner! I agree, I think it's too narrow. I think you have the space for a doormat and two runners that are wider. Or just a doormat and forgo the runner.

The runner does appear too narrow; however, the cat is cute.

Two shorter ones that are 2.5' wide would be better. Yours is skimpy in length and width.

This runner makes no sense you need something at the door not 5 feet away from the door it serves no purpose there

Painter's tape on the floor will help you decide the size you need.

You could also do just one rug (wider or even a different shape) by the door, and leave the rest of the hallway empty... more like just an entryway rug. If you have any rugs that sort of fit, you can try them out and get an idea of what shape and proportion you like. Pretty house!

I would just do a larger mat at the front door - no runner. Let your floors shine.

I stand by my previous comment... no runner. I don't think stripes work, either. I love the colors in the rug, however!
