F/U to art above FP...how about this one?
Comments (12)The frame is actually much more subtle in person - it's brown but not a "flat" brown, it has some dimension. I think the clips could be painted, that was my thought as well. Maybe painted to match the mat color. I'm slightly afraid of ruining it, though! I got this a discount home store - it's "nothing special" that I would custom frame. We had originally thought of doing three coordinting B&W photos here, but we have so many similar photographic groupings in the house, I liked that this was something different for us - abstract art. (But not too different that we don't like it.) Maybe I should stick with abstract art but look for print that I could have framed in a similar way to this piece, but without the clips and with a frame similar to what you suggest (a thin antiqued gold frame with a tiny bit of detail would fit in very well with our taste and other elements in the room)....See MoreHow about a good eye for artwork in this room?
Comments (24)Hi PeaceofHome- Art is so individual. You will live with it for a long time, please don't be in a rush. And don't buy something just because you like the color blue, or you like movement. Get something really special that speaks to you in its entirety. Take your time and really look around. Look around greatbigcanvas.com to get a feel for your style. Also, since the world's museums are closed, many have virtual tours. Take tours of the great museums and educate your eye and learn what you do and don't like in art and artifacts. Don't let your money burn a hole in your pocket. There's no rush. When the corona virus pandemic is over there will be lots of art shows and things will sell for a song....See MoreArt Art Art! Need suggestions for on or above fireplace decor.

Comments (13)For me, they remind me of German Romantic painters of the 19th Century, who were influenced by German Romantic authors of the late 18th and early 19th Centuries - my favorite period of German literature. This week I received a copy of "The Fair Haired Eckbert" [Der Blonde Eckbert] by Ludwig Tieck, one of my favorite authors of this period. I do like Novalis (aka Georg Philipp Friedrich Freiherr von Hardenberg) better, but they are very similar. I read all of the German Romantic authors in German when I was getting my degree in German, but recently I have found English translations, which I also find interesting. The Ludwig Tieck book is signed and numbered by the artist who did illustrations for this edition. A few years ago (10 or 12), I found a copy of Die Nachtwachen des Bonaventura, which may also have been written by Ludwig Tieck, since Bonaventura was a pseudonym, and no one know for sure who the real author is. "Novalis" was also a pseudonym, but everyone knew who it was. The copy of Nachtwachen [Night Watches] that I bought was published by the Edinburgh Press much earlier. I always wanted an English translation of this because it was a bit surreal, and I was not sure that what I understood it to mean was correct. It was also illustrated - either wood cuts or lino. Der Blonde Eckbert as lino cut illustrations. Kevin also loves and has been influenced by German Romantic artists....See Moredecoenthusiaste
