Are your toenails painted?
Comments (51)Duane - You make some good points and it is nice to have a male weigh in. I think you represent a lot of guys who prefer to see women looking natural. My DH's reaction to my vibrant polish was, "Whoa! You have girl toes!" From what I've gleaned from the posts on this forum, more women here would prefer a good chef's knife to an expensive designer bag and spend more time making breads and jams than fussing with elaborate beauty regimes. I think this post got so many replies because it is timely - it's summer, meaning for most of us our toes are just coming out of hiding - and it's just fun to hear about what other women do. I wrote about my DD who finds it relaxing to give herself a weekly pedicure. Fact is, other than that, sunscreen and lip gloss are the only "makeup" she wears. I think many of us perform some of these beauty routines less to impress men, but as a little indulgence....See MoreGetting ready forThanksgiving #2: "mudroom" cabinet
Comments (15)The charging station: I want to make a set of pockets to go on the outside right-hand end. I've ordered a power strip that has the outlets oriented perpendicular to the strip AND has a switch on every outlet so I can just leave the blocks plugged in. And I'm going to put buttonholes in the back of every pocket, so the wires can travel behind the fabric panel. UMBRELLAS In that bottom section, I want to leave a lot of clearance so the bookbag is easy to get in and out, and easy to access. But that leaves a big gap that isn't "doing anything." I'm thinking I might put some sort of rack on the back wall to hold umbrellas--lying across instead of hanging up and down, maybe. (sort of like the Nerf gun rack) And, as I said, the top section doesn't work anymore. I can move the shelves pretty easily--just drill new holes for the L-brackets. So I might just put one in the middle and see how it works out as a general storage space. We have WAY too many books, but this isn't a great space for books....See More2-19 Blessings/thanksgivings
Comments (5)Yeah for dates! It's been so long since DH and I could have one!LOL Our last date his mom ended in the hospital, so we have decided it's bad karma to plan a date! hehe I am truly blessed to have the friendships that I have..either "real" or the many online friends I have. I also am feeling blessed to have a wonderful DH and family, and a relatively easy going life. We aren't rich, but what we lack in money, we make up for in love and fellowship. We have alot of elderly in our close family, and my brother's family, and also feel thankful with each day we all are alive! Thank you Lisa...See MoreThanksgiving Dinner #2
Comments (10)Our first dinner we had at Denny's Restaurant on the day. It was good enough. But I missed my own home made cranberry sauce and an all time favorite, candied sweet potatoes. So I labored over making my cranberry sauce Thursday evening. On Friday, I stirred up some chicken gravy from a package and also a box of stuffing mix that I doctored up with celery, onions, parsley and seasonings. Bought all the stuff to do this on way home from Denny's including 4 large chicken breasts which I fancied up a little with seasonings etc. On Saturday afternoon I roasted the breasts, made the candied sweet potatoes and heated up the stuffing, gravy, added a side of broccoli. We sat down to this meal that I had accomplished in bits and pieces over 3 days. It was delicious.....but wait! When we cleared the table and were putting leftovers in the fridge....Damn! There still in the fridge was the cranberry sauce, untouched! The main reason for going through all this. How could I have forgotten the cranberry sauce!!! It will be the first thing out of the fridge when we repeat the meal of leftovers for lunch today!...See More- 8 years ago
