Steam shower in bathroom w/VERY hi vaulted ceiling-glass ceiling?
Comments (3)I got the glass through a local shop. My situation was different, as only one wall, the "front" door wall, was glass. The other three walls were kerdi and tile. The sloped glass ceiling was captured in the walls on three sides and clear silicon was used to seal the remaining side to the front wall of glass. I'm not sure what type of specific seal was used on the door. It might have been clear vinyl. If you do a search or ask at the glass shops, it might also help if you refer to it as a "raked" (sloped) front wall of glass. Actually, lemme see if I can get a quick google hit... Found one at Wilson Glass. Not exactly what you're looking for though. Using something like that with a sealed transom overhead would work and be the lest expensive. Having the front wall as a single piece of glass with the door cutout of it would be $$$$$....See MoreBathroom vanity lighting - low ceilings
Comments (0)We have two small bathrooms, neither of which has any overhead lighting except one light above the shower/tub. We can add wall lighting or ceiling lighting but not recessed (which I don't like anyway). We have two vanities. In one bathroom the vanity is 48" in a 55" long space (walls on the two sides). There will be one horizontal mirror above the vanity, about 37" long. The room is overall about 7' wide x 10' long, and the vanity is closest to the door on one of the long walls. In the other, the vanity is 60" long and will have two sinks. The room is 6' x 10'. The vanity is on one of the long walls and abuts the short wall. We can do either one mirror or two over this vanity. In the past we've always had lights above the mirrors and the lighting was terrible. Would it be adequate to put one up or down sconce on either side of the mirror over the 48" vanity, and maybe do the same with the 60" vanity, but with a 3rd sconce in between the two mirrors? Is uplight or downlight better task lighting? LED, incandescent, halogen? (definitely not fluorescent). # of lumens? Oh, I forgot to mention the ceilings in both bathrooms are not quite 7' (they are "code" because this is a live-work condo). Advice?...See MoreNew bathroom faucet and shower too low-flow (Danze)
Comments (2)Good suggestion, but it turned out they were open as far as they could go. Any other thoughts?...See Moreframing door for bathroom with low ceiling
Comments (7)Is your low ceiling in the bathroom actually lower than needed for a swinging door? Hard to imagine that. You only need 80 or so inches to clear the door. Let's say you needed just an inch or two more. Then cut down the door jamb & casing (pre-hung?) and the door an inch less than the jamb. BTW, if you cut the door bottom that much, you will expose the hollow core on the bottom. Use the scrap piece you just cut off and remove the wood core, then glue it into the gap.
