Comments (10)Hi Jaybird! I don't post on the forum enough...I LOVE THIS FORUM! I am the cook/baker in our house. Here is our version of the green bean casserole...WITH CHEESE! Soooo good! The recipe appeared in our local small town newspaper a long time ago...soooo goooood! ENJOY! Bear Hugs! Kirk Swiss-Style Green Bean Casserole 1 can (10 oz.) condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup 1/3 cup milk 1/3 cup sour cream 1/8 tsp. black pepper 2 cans (14 oz. each) cut green beans drained OR 2 pkg. (9 oz. each) frozen cut green beans, thawed 1 1/3 cups French's Taste Toppers French fried onions, divided 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese 1. Combine soup, milk, sour cream and pepper in a 1 quart baking dish. Stir until blended. Stir in beans, 2/3 cup onions and cheese. 2. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until hot. Stir. Sprinkle with remaining 2/3 cup onions. Comments (2)There are a lot of ways you can make it. Basically drain your green beans, I use two cans, stir in a can of cream soup and possibly a little milk if it is too thick. You can add shredded cheese or top with sliced cheese, crumbled bacon and a can of french fried onions and bake or microwave until hot. Hope that helps!...See MoreRECIPE: Bean Cornbread casserole

Comments (33)I don't make the green bean casserole but if all I have is canned green beans I'll sometimes dump out the water and add a can of cream of mushroom...but then you're trying to avoid the mushroom soup so I guess I haven't helped you much...I'm down to my last three or four jars of my sis and I's canned green beans from the garden so as long as I have those I'm cooking those with a dollip of olive oil, some bacon, onions and S&P and I'm good to go...I'm gonna have to make a trip to Illinois soon and raid her pantry for more canned beans!...See MoreUser
