Drawful is fun. It's from Jackbox games and as long as everyone who wants to play has a smart phone, that's all the equipment you need. It's available on several platforms, including Firestick, Apple TV, or good old PC or Mac. We love it and have our friends hooked on it too.

rockypoint I'll have to check out Drawful. I am still considering sending a whiteboard out there for Pictionary and it can stay in the rental house or go home with my niece.

We used to play a game kind of like Password, and part spoken charades. It was a game show in the 60s, darned if I can remember the name. You think of a famous person, and give clues to the elements in their name. For example, Shirley Temple clues could be "another word for Yes is ___ (sure)." "On Yom Kippur, people go to ___ (temple)" or break it down further into "temp" and "pull". That's something you can play in the hospital waiting room where charades might draw stares...or other participants!

Instead of a whiteboard, consider shipping a big artist's pad...completely disposable in the recycle bin.

I love to play cards! You can chat at the same time, or not. Snacks and good music and cards....

Left-Right-Center costs about $7 and is roughly the size of a pack of lifesavers. Easy to toss in your purse or pocket. You can play for money, instead of the provided chips, if you want to "make it interesting."

Banana grams is fun and I also second left center right. We play with dimes.

Another vote for LRC. We play for money — each player just needs $3.

Haven't played LRC in years but that's a classic and very do-able. Bananagrams is a family standard and I know my niece has it and could bring it for their visiting time. The only problem with card games is remembering the rules! Not sure where all our decks went...... I'm sure I moved at least one. I used to love Heads Up! Forgot all about it but it's time to get it again.Amazon has newsprint pads so that's perfect for Pictionary. Great ideas one and all - thank you!

It doesn't have to be huge, but if there's space to set up a jigsaw puzzle, people seem unable to resist. It's unclear to me where these games will be taking place, so maybe their house is too tiny, but perhaps at your bnb?

Funny, I was thinking about a jig saw puzzle. I'll have to look at the pics of the house again - not sure if there's another suitable table besides the one we'll all be eating at. All games and meals will be at the air bnb. The tiny house is just that!

If you really want to break the ice with the in-laws then you should get ... Cards Against Humanity! ;-)

Did you check with the air bnb? Most vacation rentals have some board games.

One Xmas vacation we had a large color-in poster and markers on a side table. Throughout the week, different people would be coloring together and socializing. It was very relaxing. I wonder what ever happened to the poster? In your case, you could frame it for the baby!

Ha, chispa!!! Actually one of the CAH creators is a classmate of DS2 - interesting family. Good idea to check what's already there.
