Mansard remodel
Comments (10)^ but that is a gambrel roof ^ not Mansard. traditional mansards had something accentuating the corners, akin to corner boards. It was a kind of ornamental flashing to waterproof the corners. The colors are also working against you. The red and white stripes are confusing all of the structural lines. The utterly deranged porch roof needs to be replaced with something appropriate....See MoreReally Ugly Duplex Needs Curb Appeal Help!
Comments (18)I have seen complete refacing of homes like yours. Pricey so you have to decide if you have money to burn in that way. I think a lot would depend on how much you paid for the house and how long you plan on staying. Edited to add if you're only buying half of the duplex, then you can't redo the whole outsidey. It would also limit what you could do from a landscaping perspective. Unless you and the people on the other side are on the same page. But it looks like the second home is on the second story? Would you be the owners of the whole thing?...See MoreHelp with Mansard (?) Style Home
Comments (27)Worst thing about the house is the entry. Drab brown--looks like the entrance to a hidden cave or a secret mine. Need to make a statement with that area, like Houssaon is showing in the mockup above^^ I would change the roof when it is time for a new roof. This one is easy enough to live with until it wears out its life expectancy. I like the suggestion for slate or slate tile look. Windows are pretty bad. Good news is that there are 4 of 'em on the front elevation so changing those 4 out now will really boost curb appeal. Except that I would like to see real leaded glass diamond panes instead of that bad faux attempt. Which would likely be either ridiculously expensive or unobtainable. :-(...See MoreShower niche - too big?
Comments (7)@chispa Bottles would mostly be covered because they would be behind the pony wall. I thought about lowering the niche a bit more. But need to measure it out and see what works best. @gustaviatex That's great! We had talked about doing a couple different taller niches and then found some pics of the wider ones and liked that look. So many decisions to make lol! @suzanne_m That is a great idea to use nice bottles for products. My products look nice enough, but hubby uses giant pump bottles and I figured his could just go on the bench and be hidden. But maybe I'll put his in a nice bottle and he can be allowed to use the niche :)...See MoreLyndsay Blohm
