Comments (4)Hi barbers, I live two hours south of you... the same thing happened to my neighbors lemon tree last years freeze 09. All the green leaves fell off shortly after the freeze. He thought the tree was dying, but come March/April...new leaves sprouted from the healthy part of the branches and up until this last freeze it had a bunch of lemons on it...Now it is doing the same thing after this recent freeze. He did lose about 20%-30% of the branches but the tree survived..hopefully it will recover again. He didn't do anything special to it...except his sprinkler watered it once a week and pruned the dead branches off in middle of March. He fertilized it around April when the new growths appeared... Good luck!...See MoreMeyer Lemon Leaf Drop With Pic
Comments (7)Hmmm, I have the very same problem, the leaves look identical. I saw no mites, as I had checked closely, but, eventually the many leaves went yellow rapidly and then fell off, some did not higher up on the tree. This was a month or two ago, now the tree is outside, and grew several new leaves and buds, but the newer branches are weak and the leaves are thinner and not as green. I changed the potting material to an orchid mix/potting soil that is not supposed to hold water and it drains well... I am stumped. I did have some scale, nothing too bad and I cleaned them off with alcohol including some leaves, I thought maybe that caused the yellowing.. I check for new scale weekly. Toni, I am interested in why you say it's not a mineral deficiency, I, who is not knowledable about plants, would have thought it was, so I used azeal..azail..aezal..rhodadendron fert. I would like to know for the future, what makes you say it's not a deficiency?...See Moremeyer lemon leaf drop after using hid(mh) for one week
Comments (3)400w is a lot for a 2 year old dwarf. Not too much just a lot. Like the previous poster said it will get used to it after the leaf drop. I have a 1000w hps over 9 citrus 2 avocado 3 seedling avocado 3 peppers a seedling cinnamon 5 seedling crillo cacao and a tiny pomegranete. So I am familiar with indoor growing of sub tropical and tropical plants. I noticed replicating a mediterrian climate has made the trees even more healthy. For me it's as easy as closing the heat duct in my grow room and door letting it get to the high 30's at night and high 50's in the day in winter. But I reconise that I got lucky that my temps in a non heated room are so ideal....See MoreMeyer lemon small fruit and leaf drop
Comments (8)What is your water like? Browning at the leaf tip can be a sign of too much salt in the irrigation water. Also how are you watering? Citrus does not like to be sitting in water so if you have really heavy clay soil you need to make sure the soil drys out somewhat before irrigating again. Deep infrequent watering is best, especially with clay soils. Your tree is almost completely defoliated, it is hard to tell from the picture if the bark is burned but that can be a problem with so few leaves and harsh sun. I would recommend painting the trunk and exposed branches with a thinned white latex interior paint (50:50 paint water). Good Luck...See Moresquideast
