New Format?
Comments (45)Did not like how long and hard it was to figure out how to get on here again but I managed somehow. I hate change too and don't particularly like this look but, like most things, we'll get used to it eventually. The only thing I really dislike is how hard it is to get from one forum to another. I was over in Roses and wanted to get here to Antiques and I had to go all the way home and find the garden forums and then find the Antique Roses, which wasn't under Roses but off separate. Haven't tried looking for any of the others yet but I think there really has to be an easier way. I regularly went to all the rose forums on GW and I really miss the row of links at the top of the screen we had there. I did a test post of pictures and you can add more than one photo right from your computer. However, you have to add them one at a time into the post. You can just click on 2 or 3 at once and add them. One at a time is all you can do. It is possible to put text in between them but navigating around to do that isn't very easy either. When you add a photo and then try to add text or another photo enter and using the arrow keys keeps jumping me back to the top of the post instead of going to a line below the added photo. Takes many tries to get it to go down instead of up to the top again. I heard you could add up to 4 photos to one post. Let's see! Three four! Shall we go for five and see what happens? Nope 4 is it. When I tried to click on the photo insert icon it wouldn't open. By the by, when you make a post with photos they come up smaller and when you run your cursor over them they enlarge. Later on that goes away and they just show up regular size in your post. Also when you post there is a small pencil icon that shows up in the upper right hand corner of your post that allows you to make edits to your post....See MoreA New Pop-Up?? GRRRR!
Comments (51)you need to also add the easylist to your ad block plus you can get that here just click where it says add easylist to ad block plus EasyList with firefox and adblock plus and the easylist you can easily get rid of most all ads if they do appear they will have the little block tab that you just click on and block the new ad. It is super easy and definitely worth the minimal effort to get it....See MoreFirefox too much security? frequent blocking
Comments (18)"If Snidely does not report the personal attack I'd be sorely disappointed." Nah, I ignore him. I'll tell you why. A couple of months ago, there was a music related thread in this forum (you can find it with a search for - Ripping CDs for multiple use-). He tried to act authoritative on topics and techniques I'm very familiar with (my main hobbies of music and digital music). Frankly, he seemed to know rather less about the subject than his manner would have suggested. In the course of a discussion of several posts, he wrote a number of comments I thought were wrong. I responded politely but indicated what I thought he was misinformed about. 10 hours after my post, he completely changed one post I'd responded to, removing the incorrect comments he'd made and essentially orphaning my comments such that they referred to earlier comments of his that now didn't exist. The old Gardenweb software (for which I hold no unnecessary nostalgia, believe me) did have a useful feature that would add a time stamp when edits were made. The new Houzz forum routines don't do that. He didn't like being caught. His response to my calling him out concerning his long after the fact changes was a series of prevaricating comments. I don't have time for people like that....See MoreMy PC keeps needing to recover webpage
Comments (49)I will second Elmer's comments in regard to uninstalling IE...DON'T. In fact, I will take it a step further...don't uninstall or try to delete ANYTHING that came with Windows or was put there by an update of Windows. If you do you are not just asking for trouble...you are begging for it. If there is something you don't like about the OS, you are free to ignore it and not use it. It won't do any harm to you except take up a little space on your hard drive. OTOH, if you are running out of hard drive space because you have too much crud on the disc then feel free to disregard this post. You have chosen your own fate and you deserve it. I will try to stay out of it. Have a nice day!...See Morebengz6westmd
