Me too! All morning since I first got on about 4 am Eastern. I'm using Firefox too. Never saw this one until today.

Yes I'm getting it this morning too? It evades your pop up blocker! I don't like it one bit either! I hope they get rid of that annoyance PRONTO!

Another Firefox user and I have one on the bottom of my page. There is a close X, that I click on and it goes away, but returns when I open another page. Yeah, GRRRRRRRR!!!!!

It's on mine too and I use AOL I think it is GW's fault it takes up 1/4th of the screen on the main page

GRRRR is right! I have Adblock Plus and the Angie's List ad at the bottom of the page is STILL getting through. It's the only popup I've seen since installing Adblock, which was over a year ago. If this continues, I'll probably come here less often. So annoying.

I wrote to GW using the form on Letters and comments on the bottom of the main page

Pretty soon there won't be any room for posts, given all of the ads. The site is slow enough - yeah, let's load it up with even more graphics and ads.

I get it too and am really fed up with all the ads. Pretty soon GW will find that no one bothers to come here any more if they keep this bombarding of ads up.

I got rid of it easily in FF by clicking the little BLOCK tab that comes up on the right side after the ad appears.

I wish this would go back to a paid forum, I wouldn't mind a reasonable charge if it would get rid on the ads.

I did the same as Jodi did, but you have to scroll over the ad to see the little "Block" tab in the upper right hand corner of the ad. Got rid of the gray bar, as well.

I just clicked the CLOSE tab on it and it went away. I'm sure it'll be back.. and boy, is it annoying! Makes my small screen seem ever smaller.

I do see the 'Close x' but that's temporary the ad reopens when you open a new page.

Maire_cate, you have AdBlock installed? As I recall, it wasn't immediately obvious for me either, but I persevered and there it was!

That's the worse one I've had here. I have to close out the ad, then the page goes back up to the top. Beyond annoying!!

I use FF also and when I see it there is a tiny "block" box at the top. Click on it and when the filters come up click on add.

Haven't had a pop up since I downloaded AdBlock long time ago, now Angie's ad keeps showing up despite AB being activated.

I finally got rid of it! If you have the adblock from Firefox run your cursor along the top of the blue ad until the little 'block' comes up and click on that. Then click on add when the box comes up (as Vala and others have stated).

It's one thing if the pop-up is generated on the first page you go to that day, but EVERY SINGLE PAGE you open it is appearing. I might just have to stay off of GW until it's gone.

I understand GW has to advertise, but this is beyond ridiculous and quite an invasion, IMO.

I'm afraid it's reaching a tipping point & a lot of us will just throw in the towel. Then this place can be 100% ads, no discussion board.

It's the worst I've seen here. What are advertisers thinking? I boycott places where ads like this appear that annoy me all the time. JC Penney had one months ago that the whole page popped up and wouldn't go away. I have firefox and ad block and this is still here.

If you are using Firefox with Adblock and Easylist filters, you can get rid of the ad. There is a small extension on the top right half of the ad, similar to a file tab and says Block on it. It is not always easy to see. If you are using a script blocker, such as Noscript or Flashblock, you may have to temporarily allow the ad to see the tab for Adblock. When you find the tab, click it. A window appears. Select the button to add to the filter. Close your browser and reopen it.

on mine it was hard to find the tab it was closer to the center right at the edge of the yellow part, it will pop up as you mouse over it, it does not stay up.

I just downloaded AdBlock and, waalaa, the Angie's List and grey block are gone.

Finally found the little 'block' tab. It was really tiny!

I refused to download another browser and a bunch of ad on crap..to get rid of a problem that they've created! They have chose do add these blasted ads. You may get rid of one, but there will be others that come along, and that'll mean finding another work around to avoid it! More trouble than I'm willing to put into anything that I don't have to have!

Right now, I just close the ad out and to open a thread, I "Right click on it..and open in a new window"!. and I don't see the ad...until I come back to the forum. Annoying..but do-able!!

I got rid of it with Firefox AdBlock too.

Probably what we need to do is write to Angie's List's corporate office and explain WHY we will NEVER buy their service. If businesses don't realize what a turn-off some of their advertising is, they will not quit.

I have Firefox adblock, it isn't doing a thing for that ad.

Yay. I finally found the tiny 'block' tab, and got rid of it.

I installed AdBlocker +, and it didn't get rid of the ad. Using Chrome. I can't see that "block" anywhere on the ad. HELP!!! It's driving me crazy.

you need to also add the easylist to your ad block plus you can get that here just click where it says add easylist to ad block plus

with firefox and adblock plus and the easylist you can easily get rid of most all ads if they do appear they will have the little block tab that you just click on and block the new ad. It is super easy and definitely worth the minimal effort to get it.

This one is really annoying.

I did what Jodi said and pulled the cursor over the ad - a tiny little block tab showed up and I clicked on it. No more ad!

This is getting to the point where I am just going to go to MH....

I sent GW a message and told them how annoying that ad was. I see today it's gone. Hope it's gone forever.

I can't seem to get rid of it on my iPad that uses Safari. It isn't on my desktop and I hope it stays that way. Will check on the iPad again today.

I wrote yesterday to complain, and I'm going to write now to say thank you.

There is a message on Computer Help that says:"I looked at the page code.. its gone in IE
It was too big. Maybe they looked at the pages that monster was on."

I don't know who "they" refers to, but even though this one is gone, there well may be others.

Best to be prepared.
