Comments (0)I am thinking of the white with white grout as the colors grout spacing for this is supposed to be 1/4? anyone have them and do you still love them? thank-you!...See MoreIs a backsplash standard for a kitchen?
Comments (2)A small 3” backsplash of the counter material is the usual assumption. For them to not install it might be an add as the wall would need to be flat and the counter top scribed to the wall (which is more labor intensive). And yes a fully tiled backsplash would be an additional cost if it’s not spelled out in the contract....See MoreBacksplash thoughts
Comments (21)trinawright you installed it yourself?! It looks like a very good pro job! The seller will tell you it's a natural stone and variations are to be expected, you can tell them of course, but I'd be surprised if their answer will be different. That you hate it..listen, give yourself some time. I hated so many things when I saw them first. I liked tiles without grout best lol. I liked the grout when it was already in, but I kinda liked it being non-grouted:) I didn't like faucets, and electrical outlets, and AC vents. I understood I had to have them because I want heat, water, and electricity, but they still were holes in walls to me. They irritated me, for real. It's different of course from backsplash-but it's similar in a way that our brain needs some adjustment sometimes. And that we concentrate of the newest element too much, at first. It does look like a very good color match (in general I think you're good with colors; like your wall color too, suspect that monitor changes it a bit for us on some pics) it's more a matter of two strong minded stones being together. Under these circumstances, I'm surprized it actually looks not that bad. Give yourself some time, and see how you feel about it. Either you'll think it's okay, more and more, vs sometimes hating it, or can happen you'll hate it more -and then well, you'll know you did everything in your power to live with that beautiful marble as long as you could. it is a lovely kitchen overall. Please share more pics if you'll be in the mood to do so, after you put there things you love...See MoreKitchen Backsplash install questions
Comments (9)That type of tile requires larger spacing or you will have lippage. The wall looks to still need more prep to make it flat, or the use of T or X spacers will show the waviness of the wall underneath in some serious lippage telegraphing through. All tile should be applied with thinset, including any edging pieces. A good quality white thinset like Mapei Ultralite is what you need here. No mastic in a bucket. Sand is an important part of grout, as it is what gives it body and strength, plus prevents sagging. If you want a light colored grout that blends, look at Mapei Ultracolor Plus FA in Frost or Warm Gray. It has an ultrafine aggregate that can bridge between the recommended sizes for sanded and unsanded grout widths....See Moreeam44
