bring in . . ? winter. . .? sorry - couldn't resist :D I'm with beachplant in that my "winter" clothes won't make an appearance until some time after Turkey day - IF then. - altho we do get a light frost here every once in a while so I do have to keep an eye on the forecast in late january. I AM looking forward to our planting season - which will begin mid-October or so. That's the time I like to get my trees/shrubs/annuals planted and boy oh boy are we going to be digging some holes this year! (hubby doesn't know that yet - it's a surprise!) This is also the time I can start going outside and seriously work in the garden without fear of shriveling up from dehydration. I guess I basically treat our summers like normal people treat winter - time to stay inside and plan for milder weather! (altho it was 104 yesterday. . . and HUUUUUMID!) @tom - I had to laugh at your note that your humidity was pretty low at 43%, anything over 30% around here just flattens me!

Norma, I have had many cats over the years too, none, as you say has ever died from eating a plant of any kind, inside or outside. Currently I have 3 cats of my own. I have over 100 houseplants, anything that is questionable at all, 14 plants, are up on shelves in my top set of windows (I have a double row of windows) 12 feet in the air totally away from the cats. The other 85+ plants, mainly gessies, orchids, and hoyas are on sills or plant shelves in basic reach and are totally ignored by my cats. You're right, no problems ever. My problem is this is NOT my cat. Also, without a general ID for two NOID plants I was not willing to take any chances because of that. I am baby sitting him for the next few months. He's also been totally outside as a feral for all but the last month of his 7 months of life, so he's just now learning house manners (take this as meaning he is excellent at climbing curtains, is most active at night, etc.) and going to be neutered next week. cactusmcharris, gardenbear1 and tjicken, thanks so much for the info and advice. I'm going to keep them hanging in their usual spots in the windows but will block the windowsill for the time being so he can't get on it until I get the little guy more under control.

pH 6.0 (range 5.5 - 6.5) & EC 1.3 (that's 910 ppm - in 'ppmspeak version 700.0'). Citrus is a bad idea in hydro if the roots might get cold since that can harm the plant. The plant will do gret at 70 degrees, but not less than about 62, watching those root zone temperatures. It also prefers high humidity, like Florida... Good Luck!

I am very humbled by your comments on the costumes. They were a lot of work, but lots of fun to see come together. I don't think they're the best, but I am a stickler for details and tried to replicate to the best of my ability :). I'm not the greatest sewer in the world, but nothing came apart. I crocheted the corsets for Mary and Sarah, and my shoe covers. I made my necklace, too.
