In my last garden, I had a slow-drip water water feature that always had bees drinking from it and I loved it. In my current place (in Scottsdale not too far from the old one) I do get quite a few bees, but they only visit the flowers and not the several birdbaths I keep filled. Grrrr. I'm envious. Oh way, I already said that. Well, it's true! Great post and pic, thanks for sharing it!...See MoreBosch DW - 3rd rack for sippy cup lids and snack cups?
Comments (11)Thanks everyone! Maybe they need to start marketing their DWs a bit differently! Lol. I'm so glad that I'm not totally crazy for thinking about using the top 3rd rack for kid supplies. It seems like the small plastic stuff is neverending, and the baby is still only on bottles and refusing solids; adding another kid to sippy cups and snack traps will be crazy. A little spin off from my original question, but I'll try posting in here before I start a whole new thread. Does anyone know about how much a custom panel costs? My builder is on vacation for the next week and a half so I can't ask him. I'm wondering if it would even be an option for us to get a panel ready DW. I can get an idea about the price of the DW, but what about the actual panel from the cabinet company?...See MoreTea cup and 2 saki cups.
Comments (11)Hi Jeff, I don't know Celadon pottery, but I do know crackled glass a bit, so sort of know what you mean. True Raku (rather than my Raku-style mention) as I saw it made abt 40 yrs. ago is fired not in a kiln, but in a firepit in the ground & covered w/ straw. Something in the interaction of the heat, glazes & straw (& maybe its salt content as well?) I believe is what makes that crackle, & its particular, yet variable look rather than the very consistent look of this pot. (Seen at Art School, Hinckley Maine, age 17, hanging out in the open glass house watching the potters & glassblowers while on smoke break.)...See MoreMelbourne Botanical Gardens
Comments (7)Jan, I wonder if the little darling in the iris bed was the same one who was racing back and forth tearing leaves off the trees in the Japanese Garden at the Hobart Botanic Gardens. Don't you just love those parents who don't do any parenting when it's really needed but suddenly appear out of nowhere to abuse staff or other visitors when those people feel compelled to put an end to the shenanigans. So we limited ourselves to the occasional disapproving glare. A little later I was told off for jumping the queue at the ladies toilets. Honest mistake. I didn't know there was only one cubicle. I don't remember a lock on the outer door which is usually the case with a single cubicle facility, and considering it was in a rather nice-looking new (since our last trip) visitors centre with a cafe, I wouldn't have expected a single cubicle ladies. Lovely gardens but not the relaxing visit I had hoped for on the last day of our holiday. Didn't enjoy being on the Tahune Air Walk with a school group either. We were taking a photo from the cantilevered section when they came bouncing along and we had quite a lengthy wait until they finished bouncing. The teachers were some distance behind and obviously enjoying their own holiday and not the least bit interested in supervising these teenagers. And don't let me get started on the parents who think throwing pebbles at ducks in ponds is a healthy outdoor activity for their children. Shame that places which can be so soothing for the soul can be spoilt by kids who have never been taught to respect, sorry, this is turning into a rant. Dead easy, the Canberra Botanic Gardens are native....See MoreCurdle 10a (Australia)
