Vanilla Bean Vine does anyone know about it?
Comments (2)The plant is Vanilla planifolia, which is an orchid, not a bean. It is native to rainforest areas of Mexico, which will give you an idea of its cultural requirements. It is tropical, not subtropical, so growing it outdoors successfully will depend on where in Florida you live. It is an epiphyte, meaning it grows on trees, not in soil. I suggest you tie it in close contact to a tree with fishing line. Don't bother with soil. Spray it with water daily unless there is rain. Don't worry if you miss watering sometimes. Spray it occasionally with a soluble plant food diluted to half strength. Eventually, it should start to grow and send out roots which will cling tightly to the tree. During the cool part of winter, if it gets cool, don't water. If there is a cold spell, cover it with a blanket. It may not bloom for a couple of years or more while getting established. The vanilla "beans" are the seed pods which follow the flowers. Jim...See MoreDoes anyone know anything about Bonsais?
Comments (4)You are right not to post this on a succulent thread. you actually need the forum on diagnosing diseases. Your plant is a tropical shrub or tree. Cant' tell what kind though I thought it might be a form of ficus. but you mentioned a cherry. The good news is the plant is healthy. Brown bits do happen but the damage is minimal and not fatal. . Anyway, the bitten part is not bitten actually. More like little spots that died off and the brown bits fell away. This little brown spots on leaves occur for possibly a few reasons. 1. Inconsistent watering. If the plant suffered a dry spell and then suddenly got watered, some portions of the leaves (and branches) die off. The flood of water 'explodes' the cells and kills them. This is why you need to water consistently but to be careful not to overwater. When you do that, the roots drown and the entire crown will go brown. Bonsais can get root bound depending age and how long since they've been repotted. So roots may not be able to absorb surface water or oxygen or may have drowned in too much water. Happens a lot with root bound plants. If it is root bound then its time to root trim and repot in fresh soil (something that should be done by seasoned gardeners). The clue is in the location of the browning. It almost always occurs at the tips of the leaves. Sun spots. A dew drop may have turned into a magnifier with the sun focusing on that one spot and killing off the cells. its like using a magnifying glass to start a fire. You can avoid this by watering only roots. If you need to spray the foliage to prevent spider mites and other sorts of indoor nasties, you need to put a fan nearby to circulate air and to evaporate the water on the leaves. 3. bacterial or virus. Watch for a spread - if that happens, it might be one or both. I suggest that if you have more questions, take this to the forum I mentioned....See Morebody jets/spray jets: which model to buy?
Comments (9)I love jetted showers. i have a shower tower unit in my outside shower that was a dyi assembly and works pretty well but i have terrific water pressure😊. In my master shower I four jets and hand held and large ceiling rain can plumbed with 3/4 pipes in a loop attatched to its own instantaneous water heater. i can use all heads together or alone with out losing hot water or water pressure but a plumber needs to kniw how to do the loop properly and you need great water pressure. I have three water valves to turn on each shower head( the jets are on one valve, the rainhead on another and the hand held on the third) and one thermostatic pressure valve that sets the temp for all heads. I rarely use my rain can but use the body jets for a minute or two every shower and longer when needed. My jets can spray or be jets with a twist. I used grohe shower tower...See MoreDoes anyone know anything about the HBN1306SS from Best Range Hoods?
Comments (1)People here have not memorized hood model numbers. But looking at the website page (which you did not provide), the HBN1306SS appears to be a hood insert, not an entire hood. Are you looking for an entire hood or an insert? Your brief post did not say. In any case, I do not recommend its "hybrid baffle filter". That is actually mesh filters covered by some baffles. What you want are true baffle filters, not "hybrid baffle filters". I also dislike the insert depth of 11-7/8" deep. That is not deep enough. I advise a hood that is 22" deep. https://bestrangehoods.com/product/built-in/hbn1306ss...See MoreLisa Adams
