We have thousands of these 'moss roses' or portulaca. They have been reseeding themselves for around 10 years. They go down the front of our driveway bed and then around the sidewalk out to the driveway in front of the garage. My dh likes them but he gets a little panicky when they start popping up in the farm yard here and there down to the barn and around the machine sheds. And this is in full sun and lots of gravel. No water unless it rains. All colors. I try to tell him they are better than the wild purselane that grows all around here and is a pest in the veggie garden. We had these at the farm where I lived as a child in SD. One flower we never had to plant and could always rely on.

Ha, ha! Ann, you and I share a healthy skepticism. I also noticed that the stages of color change seem to be following an odd pattern of aging. Some newly opening blooms are pale and others darker pink. Ditto older blooms. And ditto depth of bloom color and light exposure. The foliage is, to my eye, oddly distributed. Tangles, in which magazine/article/ad did you spot this image? If it's a perfume ad, cover of a non gardening magazine or other such, the composition and colors are likely Photoshopped. However, I'll bet a number of forum members could suggest roses which would grow to the overall effect and boast "globular shaped blooms" with similar tints and shades of color. If you're lucky, they'll offer up some of their gorgeous photos of the candidates. Please do ask. I'd LOVE to see photos of actual roses which approximate your romantic blush-pink dream rose! Carol

Theresa. What Lois made is not a regular Tesselating Stars pattern. If you follow the positive fabric in what Lois made, it connects to the block next to it on all four sides. I was wondering how it would look if the color of the main star was extended to the next block which might give the Sparkler look to it. I envision all the Sparklers in bright oranges, yellows, reds, blues...anything that says Sparkler. Just an idea I had....... Thanks for sharing Lois.....you got my brain cells working. lol
