Building a 'small home', would like your opinions!
Comments (39)Not sure if you are calling the original plan A or if the first one modified is Plan A. I will make my comments about the two modifications. I like the FIRST modified plan, except I think you need to move that bedroom door for "girl" down the hall. If that child is not a person to clean their room nicely, then that will be about the first thing that visitors see. Guests can see the door to the bath in that one, no mistaking whether it is in use before they get to the point of turning the knob, cuz it shows if open. I do like the two baths back to back, for economy in plumbing. One day down the road, you might consider putting a little powder room where that laundry room closet is. You have the space available from the garage area. Now, I notice in both plans that you have a pair of double doors at the back of the garage. Do you have a riding lawnm0wer/tractor to drive in that side? Is that going to be walled off from the car parking spaces? Looks really good, and that area can be reached from the far end of the deck. Your deck is quite sizeable, so if you are looking for any space in the living room, a really short bumpout. However, that would involve roofline changes and also no straight wall through the LR and garage which might be a load bearing situation....See MoreOpinions on this project please =)
Comments (1)I just saw your post...sounds like you have some fun ideas. I was wondering if the scene could be on one side and the eagle on the other with the word 'NAVY' - but of course, you are finished now. What did you decide to do and how did it turn out? I bet they were thrilled! My son and DIL had one under their tree this year with a festive bow tied around it and just the lights inside - wrapped as a package under the tree. It was really pretty....See MoreNeed your opinion: Is this small endtable antique or valuable?
Comments (20)I don't think it would ever be called junk. Just a nice old oak table. It will be beautiful with some cleaning up. I just bought a set of 3 quarter sawn oak dining chairs with upholstered seats and in pencil under one is "new plywood seat .25 labor installing and regluing 1.75 material 1.60 tax .04 $3.64" I can't begin to figure out how old they are if they were re-upolstered back in the day when those prices were in effect. Had to be at least in the early 1900's. And they are in beautiful condition and they were only $20. for all 3! They were paired with a crappy formica drop leaf table for $50. The table stayed there. Edited to add: I found the same chairs on eBay for over $1,000 for a set of 4 so I snagged a great deal. Mine have claw feet on the front legs....See MoreSmall condo lobby Light tile floors. Comments (4)Select a larger console table if you have the room. Successful lobbies have furnishings that 'ground' it. All that little stuff is going to walk. I promise....See MoreVirgil Carter Fine Art
