You need coffee tables in both spaces. I'd go for glass top tables with metal legs since the upholstered pieces are visually dense.

It looks like this is the mud room as well as the main living area. It won't look nice until you find a way to organize stuff. One: tidy up. Two: add a rug. Three: replace the family photos above the fireplace with some art. Three: add a rug. Four: replace the end tables and coffee table with more contemporary pieces. Four: tidy up.

This large window room room runs into the kitchen which has a dining area. And the goal is to also have that kichen eating area able to view the TV in that large room as well. The adjacent room is not so suited for a TV room (don't know how we will purpose this yet). Below....

I would suggest marble rather than lacquer for the family room. My friend has a kitchen table where she used leftover marble from her slabs on a "tulip" base. It has gotten lots of abuse and still looks fine. Lacquer is more much delicate just as wood is more delicate than glass or stone surfaces. I spent a long time looking for the "perfect" coffee table. My aesthetic question would be why don't you want some element of contrast in the room. The wood MCM style tables have elegant lines and might be a bit of visual interest in all that white and pale.
