Need help draping mesh type garland on Christmas tree?
Comments (10)I might be a bit late to help you, but I've decorated several trees with the poly mesh. It's very sticky and can be a bit of a pain to work with. If you're wanting to weave it throughout the tree, just fold it in half, tuck, gently twist and tuck. You can also cut it, tie in the center and use it like you would bows. It puffs out nicely and you can stretch the roll farther by cutting. Only problem with cutting is that there is no way to to keep it from unraveling so you'll have to be extra careful with it. I don't have any pictures of the trees I've just decorated, but I'll try to load a photo of my 12 ft tree I did last year so you can see how I draped it in. Here is a link that might be useful: Tree...See MoreWhat type of drapes?
Comments (8)DO NOT PAINT OVER THE WALLPAPER!!!! Why go halfway and create a mess for yourself or someone else to try and repair properly. Either remove the wallpaper entirely if you don't like it, or work the other accessories in the room around it if you plan to keep it. Painting over wall paper never looks right, and makes it twice as difficult to remove if you ever decide you want a change. Just my 2 cents, from experience, and years of trying to undo someone else's quick and sloppy attempts at decorating on the cheap!...See MoreWhat type of drapery pleat?
Comments (20)Well Chispa, it's always a good idea to have a clear understanding of what you're ordering. I've worked two stints in window treatments, once in the early 90's when I owned a workroom, then again in the early 2000's when I moved to St Louis and worked for a custom window treatment fabric place, in sales and design. I've always known the standard pinch pleat to be the 3-pleat illustrated here. And Everything else as a derivation that needed to be specified by name. French Pleats I've always known are the ones that are secured at the very top, releasing their fullness right away. They've got to be fabricated absolutely correctly so they don't "lean". But a quick google search indicates that regionally pleats are labelled differently. So I guess my advice would be, know what you want, and have a picture so there is no confusion, when specifying custom draperies....See MoreHow am I doing so far (pictures)
Comments (31)I love that room!! It sort of has this exotic appeal to it that speaks to me----and I like looking at those parrot pictures (you have my Eclectus in one of your prints btw) and then looking at the kudu---it causes me to pause and take it in more. The kudu painting proportionally balances out the other pics. I was in S. Africa this last Feb/March---it was one of the most breathtaking, amazing, beautiful places I have ever been and I wish that I could live there. And yes, I tried kudu at a traditional Braai (bbq). When I think of British colonial, I think of plain canvas fold-up seats and tents. So I think your lampshades work well. I would try simple, smart, canvas drapes. I think of clean, unpretentious lines. I think a silver canteen with silver cups might be a cool display sitting on a basket weave tray. We saw a lot of simple, clean-lined lanterns too. A zebra rug would definitely work. Also there are lots of decor items made with porcupine quills---we saw lots of that in SA. Lampshades, mirror frames, or even a bundle of quills in a vase. Pier One and Z Gallery have these items and kudu horns, etc. But remember, a small amount of this goes a long way. I like your side tables---that to me is the exact touch that you needed. That has a bit of the East Indian influence. I wouldn't be adding saris or brightly-hued silks or anything like that. I'll see if I can't dig up any pics....See Morebeckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally
