Leg cramps or pains?
Comments (4)I went to the doctor's and he missed checking my blood sugar. As I went out the door I turned back and ask him...he just sit down and wrote me an order to go for a 2 hour blood check for my sugar. I went and waited the rest of the day to hear and heard nothing from it. That night I got weak and my lower jaw started jerking and I could not talk. My husband took me to the ER early that next morning and found out it was my sugar that was way up. Later I found out that it was over 700. So always remember if you have leg cramps and dry mouth and thirsty all the time...it is your sugar level being high. I was in the hospital for 11 days. I was so sick. I was tested for everything to make sure no organs were harmed. All the tests came out negative. PTL. I am weak and do not know anything much about sugar Diabetes. That's what I have now :-(. Thank heavens I am signed up for Home Health care for a week. I do not have to be on Insulin. Just pills. But, I don't know how to select my diet. I do not eat anything sweet anymore. Thank all of you for all your replies. God Bless! Betty in Florida...See MoreClaudification leg pain - what does it feel like?
Comments (8)How's your leg pain going, surfergal? I was concerned about your having claudication, until I read that you'd had a stress test. With your age, I'm wondering if you need some calcium/magnesium supplements. When I started going though perimenopause, and my estrogen was sinking, I would get leg cramps very easily.........just by climbing a few stairs. So I suggest you start taking 1200mg calcium and at least 500mg magnesium a day (in 2 doses). The magnesium may give you diarrhea, so you can go down on the dose if that happens. Or if the calcium gives you constipation, you can go up on the magnesium. If I go one day without these supplements, my muscles start spasming. Good luck!...See MoreLurking, update and hello :)

Comments (7)Hi Catherinet. Do you take prescription meds or use herbs? If you do, research the side effects. Some such as chol. meds can cause leg pain. I have Rh. arthritis and have a lot of knee and leg pain, which seems more irritating at night when I'm still and trying to sleep. My girlfriend has fibrom. as well, and also has a lot of stiffness and pain in her legs. We both take Epsom Salts soak in warm tub before bed. You can also make a paste and put it directly on those achey areas, which works even better. Have you noticed the pain is worse during times of stress? Those times are particularly painful. You might also take note of when you have these episodes. Mine is much worse when I've been on my legs that day. I also get some relief by doing gentle stretches before getting into bed. Try leaning your hands against a wall and stretching your leg (one at a time) behind and press down your heel to the floor. It's a good calf stretch. Also, while lying in bed, I bend my lower leg back at the knee and grab my foot, which stretches the upper quad muscle. This one hurts my knees a little if I pull too hard. Hope that helps. :)...See Moreritamay91710
