I wish I were with you. We are suffering from abnormally high temperatures here in SoCal. It might hit 100º F. today, not too comfortable when you haven't any A/C.

Very windy and chilly here. I have the thermostat on 65, just enough to take the chill off inside the house.

Fun2BHere --Might you want a split-system A/C for just one or two rooms? We have two Mitsubishi units at our Maui condo. They are very quiet and cut our utility bills in half from through-the-wall units. I believe they can also *heat* -- not something we would use in Hawaii, but you might.

My husband is retired from a water authority. They would sometimes give people a break on their bills due to a line break that was the home owners problem. They just averaged the past usage. Some people on their system had 2 meters installed. One for the house and one for the sprinkler system. The water that went through the sprinkler meter didn't have to pay sewerage .

Near 90 in my neck of the woods and supposed to stay warm all week. Where is the cool fall weather?

A very chilly strong wind here. I have a constant 74 degrees, so the furnace is running! For the last week or so, it has been furnace in morning and air in afternoon...

Just left an outdoor event. It was 64 degrees.

It was 105 here today.

Also very hot in Pismo Beach.

Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. Perfection! Slipping down to the 60s/40s tomorrow. I don't want to spoil it with indoor heat. Love sleeping in a cool bed, especially this time of year.

If your talking about my houzz name, I see all these rooms that look beautiful, but don't function for the average family unless the family isn't allowed to use the room or you have a live in maid. My decorating style is it must function first and be durable, then be easy to clean and then look good. I live in my house, not for my house.

Did anyone say they were 'holding out', not using their heating or cooling? I've just found it remarkable that we have not *needed* our heat until so late in the year -- climate change, according to our local weatherman.

We had to turn on the furnace this morning just to get the chill out then turned it off. It got quite warm during the afternoon. I have some windows open now getting some fresh air.

Finally getting cool weather in TX. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. Can you say perfect! Have had windows open during the day, all week.

So the AC was on last night and tonight the gas furnace for the first time this year. It's 46 now. I miss the woodstove we had for 40 years but husband got tired of splitting and hauling wood.

cooling off in suburb of Philly this week, but by weekend warming up again. personal goal to not turn heat on till Nov. 1. i think we might make it which would be a first for us. its usually on by 2-3rd week of October. it has been just beautiful here this Fall. Gorgeous clear warm days in the 70's and 60's at night for the most part. hope it continues!! i just hate our heating bill (gas)!! cheaper to cool our house in summer (electric) than heat our house.

I had to turn the heat on for about 15 minutes this morning before waking the boys for school. Temp dropped to 37F last night/early morning. Still it was 68 indoors but had that damp feel. This was the first the heats been on so far this season. Western Pa.

Not only has my heat been on for a while, I am having my snow tires put on today. 4" to 6" expected.

Very warm for northern New England, most days in the mid to upper 60's. Typically it's much colder by now. In fact, Halloween is Tuesday & most years there is at least a trace of snow if not a foot!

Finally cooling off in my part of Texas too. Highs in the 80's and lows in the 50's. It may get down to the 30's this weekend. I'm not a fan of being really cold, but we had absolutely no winter last year/beginning of this year so I'm actually looking forward to some cold weather. We had to go to New York to experience winter in February lol

Finally today it's 54 right now and I am loving it. I despise summer and thought it would never end. I hope it stays cold until June.

We have one non-frost-proof spigot. DH drained the line yesterday afternoon. This morning it was 34F when we got up. Predicted high is 59F.

Our huge American Elm is at its autumn peak, gold against the blue sky. Our huge Sycamore is just thinking about fall; it will still be shedding in January. (Picture dinner plate size leaves, blowing across the snow!) The ornamental pears think it's July; rarely get color on them before they just drop everything. Serviceberry is red and gold.

This should have been my first day for heat, the Houston area has a sudden cold snap. Outside temp right now (5:30AM) is 36 degrees. But it looks like apartments have a significant insulating effect on each other, and my inside temp is 72 with no heat.

I forgot to post about this on Thursday. Thursday evening we turned the heat on, while it was 72 in the house. It got cold overnight, which we knew it was coming, and we didn't want the first time heat on smell in the house. It blew out Thursday evening! Friday morning was no bad smell, when it came on. It ran a bit yesterday, and is on right now, trying to come back up to 70, which is my daytime indoor temp in the winter.

We had our first frost overnight. Our house has no insulation, and it is 56F inside. Each year we try to wait until November to turn on the furnace.
