New Whirlpool Washers for 2010!
Comments (38)The lint filter on the new Whirlpool is a screen that is removed vertically from the bottom of the cabinet door opening (not in the door itself); the top of the filter is curved to allow for a circular door opening. I erred in my earlier comment about the small size of the Cabrio dryer door openings - I was thinking of Whirlpool's stackable dryers that match their front-load washers. The Cabrio dryers actually have a large and especially easy-to-reach-into door opening, thanks to a door that wraps over the top a few inches. This makes it easier to reach into the back of the drum. I'm curious why they didn't use the wraparound door on the Vantage dryer, especially since its outside styling would make it easy to incorporate it. Which is why I thought it may be outsourced. That and the stainless-steel drum, which I don't recall seeing on any U.S.-built Whirlpool-made dryer....See MoreAppliance shopping = my head is spinning!
Comments (22)Within the last 10 years we have gone thru 3 different W/D First was top loader Fisher and Paykel W/D, not too bad, but after 3 years mechanically failed, quiet machine. 2nd was a highly rated front loaders Whirlpool (go green). what a horrible, horrible mistake. Hubby does the washing and finally had to hook up a hose from the shower to the washer to add water, was funny at the beginning, but as time went by, the frustration was growing, clothes was not coming out clean and it took longer to do a load of wash more than anything. After a year, we finally gave in a starting researching for another W/D, ran into SQ. The sky opened and the sun came out. Never saw a happier husband, who loves to wash clothes. The price for the W/D was less than 1/2 what we paid for the Whirlpool, and this was on the higher end residential model. We were able to sell our whirlpool front loaders to someone who was really looking for our model (rated high), we lost money in the sale, but was happy to get rid of it. Immediately noticed a difference in towels and clothes, came out cleaner, no more shower hook up for water. I think many people forget about SQ and they don't realize that they have been in the commercial business (laundry mats) for a long long time, can you imagine the abuse those machine takes. Recently had a friend who was convinced to buy a Samsung several years ago and is now running into issues with their machine. Even the repair man told them that he would not have bought a Samsung. They tried selling the Samsung and a used dealer used he wouldn't touch or buy that machine at all, he highly recommended a SQ and if my friend was selling a used SQ he would have bought that from him in a snap! The wife and I are laughing, because she wanted the SQ but he decided to listen to a salemans. He is now buying the SQ and had to donate his Samsung, because no one wants to buy it. SQ for a happy life!...See Morefront load washing machine Electorlux 1.5K, speequeen $2k Miele $2.5k?
Comments (27)OK! Speed Queen, delivered and installed, all taxes, "in the house sitting where is needs to be with old machine gone" price: $2,812.57 - (Canadian) this one https://ca.speedqueen.com/products/front-load-washers.aspx?mn=AFNE9BSP113CW01#build-your-own Has induction motor! Wow! That is real - deal thinking -cap on engineering- 5 year all in warranty and designed for 20 years. Not denying Miele also has some real - deal engineering and I would admit Miele probably even a better build but not a tank like Speed Queen. Miele- excellent but too small for the 120 volt one, and quite a bit of money - I noted comment about doing laundry all weekend. It was at least $500 more and it was tiny. So it was out. Electrolux - suitable machine no doubt about it- more features- very easy to use controls- unlike 'guessing at kind of' on the SQ.. And Elctrolux has alight in it -kind of neat! - and steam clean - an excellent machine. and could be installed for at or about $1,200 all in. So why not Electrolux but Speed Queen? 1, Vastly and self- evidently better build quality; 2, This! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Induction_motor...See MoreMiele T1 - 160 vs 180? Comments (24)There are two reviews on that site with negative experiences. it is hard to know what the cause was. Slow drying could be from poor spin and rhe clothes have a lot more residual moisture. Just a guess. Wr have had the TWI180 model dryer for two years now and around 4500 hours and no problems. Most loads are dry in around an hour. Towels a little longer. Mix fabric types can cause inconsistent drying. Heavy cottons (towels) and synthetics (light polyester) dry at very different rates. This can cause the machine to over or under dry items depending which items are rubbing against the metal paddles. The machine senses the dryness based on electrical conductivity. Dry items being less electrically conductive. Musty smells are from leaving water jn the pull out drawer or wet lint from the fluff filters sitting around full and picking up moisture if the ambient air has high humidity. If you actually use the appliances you should not have any problems. Wash enough clothes at once so the load is balanced and spins out at full speed. Clean the lint filters after every load like the manual states. Do those items abd the washer most likely wont be able to complete another load before the dryer is done....See MoreAreBe
