Which tile?
My kitchen is in the final stages of its renovation and I'm trying to decide which backsplash tile (and electrical switch&outlet covers) to use. The backsplash is ~23 sq ft between counter and upper cabinets. The cabinets are shaker style painted blue and white (colors below). The counter will be walnut butcher block along the wall (and Carrara-like quartz on the island where there is a farmhouse copper sink). The faucet, hardware, and schoolhouse pendants are in brushed nickel. Appliances are stainless steel. We don't have immediate plans to sell but may do so in 2-5years. The house is an 1890s cottage with a 2001 addition.
My questions are:
white or blue tile backsplash?
nickle, porcelain, or plastic screwless electric outlet and light switch colors?

Comments (8)how could I possibly tell the height from you're drawing? i don't understand your concern. if you want it lighter, than use a white tile for the floor and bright white on ceiling. go to a tile shop and look at floor tiles. dark colors don't make a space seem small. bad lighting does. look at bathrooms w/green tiles and get ideas...See MoreWhich tile should I use?
Comments (5)I think that if you‘re thinking about changing the tile around the shower and bringing it into the room, I probably wouldn’t spent the money right now to put white hexagons on the floor. If you want to change the floor right now, maybe you should do a temporary fix right now (using pop floor decals/painting the tile) OR simply buy some cool rugs/towels until you’re ready to tear out the shower tile. I almost suggested that you pick out a floor tile now that will look nice with changing the tub/shower surround tile - BUT - there are SO MANY beautiful tiles that are introduced over a fairly short time that, if I were you, I’d worry about changing my mind about what tile I want to use when redoing the tub/shower. 6 years agolast modified: 6 years agoIf I were living in it, I'd love blue tile, but you will be selling - better stick with white. Are you wedded to the satin nickel? Cabinet hardware would be a great place to echo the copper of the sink.

6 years agoI wanted to follow up to share what I did in the end. I did use white, and really like how it turned out.
I did use the nickel hardware. It was difficult to find copper hardware that matched the sink. The nickel goes nicely with the SS appliances, IMO.
