I love food trucks! We have several food truck parks in our area, great way to try lots of different things! Can be very pricey though.

Love them. Especially the taco trucks in my area.

Food trucks have become a trend here with most other foods. Overpriced and really not that great. Reminds me of fair food. They make food trucks nights into an event. With few exceptions there is nothing exceptional about the food. It's crowded, loud and meh.

Love visiting Portland. They have the best food trucks ever and reasonable prices. I like to stay downtown and I live off those trucks going out for a nice sit down meal once a day.

At work, we called it the "roach coach". I have no doubt that they have improved since then.

At my office complex, which isn't near any food places (you'd have to drive), we have a food truck every day. There are a couple that I really like (one serves organic/non-gmo food, and the other is a Greek food truck) and the lunches are reasonable: $7-$9.

Food trucks are a mixed bag where I am. And while I love hole-in-the-wall restaurants, I am not overly keen on this particular fad.

Some food trucks are awesome. Some just wanna cash in. Just keep your eye (and your other senses) tracked in... I'm not much impressed at the ones at the local flea market (a flea market with national coverage), but some others elsewhere have been incredible.

Occasionally I order from the food truck outside the craft beer brewery. The best thing I've ever had at those events is the beer.

Our local recreation department had a food truck festival. Another organization had food trucks to provide food for their event.

It wouldn't be anything I would go out of my way for, but if I stumbled across it, I would try something.

The best fish taco I've ever had was from a food truck.

rhizo, come to coastal California. You'll find lots of great choices in brick and mortar locations, though some can be shady looking taquerias in shady locations that are just a step up from a truck but very, very good.

I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be a delicious meal. Large portions, a salad, rice and beans, and 3 pieces of spicy delicious chicken for $10.

I guess, a food truck that comes to your complex or place of work might be a GREAT idea... but I much prefer a brick and mortar place to eat. Most of all, I like the option to sit down when I eat...

We have a Mexican food truck in our small town. We have gotten food from them twice, was very good. That is my only experience with one.

Food trucks are fun. I appreciate the variety they can bring to a location. But expect a 'cheap' meal due to low overhead, with no brick & mortar to support? Nope, it doesn't seem to work like that. Maybe the cost of buying a truck is roughly the same as the cost of renting a physical location.

Philly has a fantastic food truck scene!! fruit bowl for $6., more fruit than u can eat! you can't finish it even if its your lunch. everything cut fresh & cold. the best in the warmer months. insomnia cookie truck, chinese trucks, cheesesteak trucks, breakfast trucks, crepes, sushi, the list goes on. we even have food truck festivals! they made it into an art! YUM!!

Other than a hot dog guy who's been around forever, there is only one other food truck, and they are usually only open on Sunday when the farmer's market is open. They also have a brick and mortar stand next to Penn Station. Large following from their time in NYC, there is always a long line. It is vegan, and they are known for their gluten-free pastries, but their other food is very good.

This summer a lot of churches in our city opened their lots to food trucks once a week. In return the trucks gave the churches 10% of their earnings that day.

We thought it was a great way to try it. We chose a Mexican truck, as Mexican is somewhat a novelty. I got a large burrito.....it was large for sure but it was also $11. Hubby got some type of egg roll type thing. 3, the size of a small cigar, and $7. We were floored. So that's twice...... first and last. Too pricey.

Jasdip a super burrito (choice of meat, cheese, rice beans and condiments) here would run around 7.00 and street tacos made with fresh meats (nothing like Americanized tacos in a shell) are generally 2 dollars each. What you describe as a small eggroll was probably a taquito which would cost around a dollar or two for 3. Those are Taco Truck prices all over the area.

And we live in a high cost of living area.

Uhhh. I bring my food back to my desk or the lunch room to eat. We also have picnic tables in one of the building's courtyards.

Most food trucks supply their food "to go" - so you take it with you. Some set up in parks/in parking lots where there are picnic tables.

Don't know why you'd think you'd have to stand up and eat?

Jasdip - they probably jacked their prices to cover the "donation" to the church.

It depends on where one is. Food trucks can be fabulous! One of the best where I've gotten food is one for french crepes in...hold it now...Bentonville, AR! Not expected! Their crepes are TDF and the people who run the truck are SO nice.

They often have food trucks at outdoor festivals, and you eat it while you're watching the music, walking around, etc. None are set up 'permanently' like the hot dog stands outside of Home Depot, Canadian Tire, etc.

On a work trip to a conference in Portland, OR, a year and a half ago, i twice went to a nearby full city block of food trucks. There were so many choices it was hard to decide which ones to go to. I think there is another full city block of food trucks there.

Locally many wineries and breweries will have food trucks. Some of them they have the same truck over and over, other have a rotating set of different trucks.

Also on campus about two blocks from my office there are 4 trucks: one with Asian dumplings and side dishes, one with Austrailian meat pies, one with gyros other Greek food, and a new one with BBQ. Oddly though the Asian dumpling place will often have 20 to 30 people waiting in line, while there is no one at any of the other three places.

They used to be cheap sources of good food but then the yuppies got a hold of them and now they are trendy and overpriced. The food can still be good but it's the same pricing as a restaurant meal.

We like watching the food truck tv shows, but the pricing is insane. $5 tacos and $10 grilled cheese, no sides or drinks or anything.

Ok I'll be the one to ruin it for everybody. I read somewhere that food hygiene for food trucks was lots lower than restaurants. HST, in Houston we have Cousins Maine Lobster and it is THE best. I think they originated in Austin and owner has been able to franchise the operation. Pricey but oh so good. So what if i develop a 3rd eye.

I definitely think that food hygiene is a consideration. But I am thinking that just like restaurants, hygiene practices vary between trucks. That is why the now widely published reports of food inspection violations are so valuable.

I may look up the violation history of a particular truck, fortunately in my case the truck company name is available the day before the truck gets here.

We have several and most I have tried are very good. Yes, the prices are a bit higher, but the convenience is worth it in most cases. A few have turned their food truck business into a brick and mortar store, so I say Bravo to that. One was a cupcake business and another was a lobster roll that is excellent. They also had some lobster Mac and cheese that was a real treat. Both still have their trucks.

i have large open-air farmer's market near me... produce, clothing, flea market stuff. i imagine placement of food trucks is totally planned and wouldn't be surprised if only a few "owners" for a bunch of trucks. many have some sort of food on sticks... chicken, beef, pork. the AROMA either draws you in or makes you know exactly what you're gonna make when you get home. honestly have never bought from any of those trucks... thinking many would not pass inspections??
