Downstairs Basement Bathroom

Jenna H

Hi everyone! We recently bought our home in April. It was built in 1987, and our first "big" project will be remodeling the bathroom in our basement.

I have attached a picture from the listing---people normally think it's a sauna when they first walk in. :)

We have heard the suggestion of painting the wood white for the shiplap look, but I think we are hoping to do something more classic. We are thinking we'll rip off all the wood and then sheetrock it.

Just wondering if anyone has had any experience in ripping off the wood? Any tips or just go after it?

Also, looking for any color ideas. Since it's in the basement, I want to make sure it doesn't look too dark.

Lastly, we are hoping to add a long shower onto the far wall. I think it'll be a different size than a typical shower you could just buy from Home Depot? (At least that's what my dad says, ha!) So any experience in this situation of putting in a custom shower<

Thank you so much!
