Ants on my citrus
Comments (2)The ants don't eat your leaves, they do eat the honey dew from aphids or scale, a common problem with citrus. I spray with horticultural ultra fine oil, three times, about a week apart. Get both sides of each leaf. Only spray when the weather is cool. Dead edges of the leaves could be caused by a buildup of salts in the mix caused by not watering enough at each time to flush out the mix. It is best to see about 15% of the water you use, exiting the drain holes. Al...See MoreAre ants destructive to citrus flowers

Comments (5)Hi gang. It seems like the problem is mealybug....at least it's a big part of the problem. I've been picking them off my plants for a month now. It's amazing how quickly they come back. If I had been more knowledgeable about what I was facing a little earlier, I could have kept the problem to a minimum. But you guys know what happens when you don't act quickly....the problem compounds itself. That's ok....I'm still a relative newcomer to the garden world so I won't beat myself up too badly. Here's an interesting fix I've researched: You can buy these mail order "mealybug destroyer" ladybugs that apparently feast on the little buggers. I'm tempted, but before I take the plunge I want to try one more organic spray called Jungle Rain....it promises to do the job and it's much cheaper. (Probably a rip-off...we'll see.) Anyway, the real bummer is that my citrus plants....though quite healthy and growing, have stopped blooming. The simple fact is they're not getting enough direct sunlight, but I live in a condo and can't change the direction my balcony faces. (west) So....can I get a great big "awwwww" out of you? :)...See Moreants on my citrus
Comments (22)r u people joking or am i in illusion the black ants r there to look after your plants. For the love of god stop killing these helpers. They don't hurt when they bite. They r actually completely harmless. If u take the time to have a look they try and make out they r spiders so they can freak u out but in fact they r completely harmless. Leave them alone they r amazing the way they make a nest out of leaves and branches. Only God knows what goes on in inside their little city. Just let them be and they will help u out. These black ants r the most amazing ants I have ever come across. They r the blackest of black, they are the most harmless of all the ants in Australia and for some reason u want to kill them. Only God Knows why. 4 the love of God leave them be and enjoy the little surrade they put on trying to make out they are spiders because thats all they've got....See MoreHome
