I agree with you that the table is a bit bulky for the area. There are lots of ways to go: a small bench, shelf, smaller console, a cabinet, bigger mirror or art, etc. I don’t know the styles you like to be more specific. Since you have nice windows there, my preference would be a cabinet or table with lamp. It’d look very inviting and cozy from outside (even if you do window coverings). Other looks: I’d just do some searches on decorating entryways to get inspiration, and narrow it down with the styles you like. Congrats on your new home! :)

THere are decorative magnetic grille covers that you can order to size. Or you could put a decorative wall grille like this one with hooks to distract attention.

Sometimes it's good to see what others have done. What's with the Spanish candelier? It's a split level and it's naturally contemporary in style. Adding texture to the wall with batten strips could be interesting. Adding a wainscoting could cut the height of the walls visually A shelf and mirror or hooks and bench like you see below is an option also. I don't think the walls should remain simply white.
