Comments (23)Kitchen forum (I've been planning my kitchen for years...SOMEDAY everyone will be through college!) Flooring forum (2000 sq ft of nasty tile in the basement...MUST be replaced with something. Eventually.) Laundry forum (for when you need a new washer and/or dryer...the laundry obsessed are just as insane as the rose obsessed...and even more opinionated!) Landscape Design (My other favorite...I hung out there before I started hanging out here. Not for everyone...but you can learn an ENORMOUS amount.) Don't know why I'm so parenthetical this morning...and eliptical! Must be my headache....See MoreSouthern Folks-How Did Your New Plants Do This Year?
Comments (16)TN, you bet, yours look really good ...to be put in the ground during the height of summer, you are doing something RIGHT. And Eleven, my choices were from the ones on hand at the time. I added olla jugs to Empress Wu and S+S to keep water in the root zones Winter Snow was doing fine until DH stepped in the middle of the crown. It is making a valiant effort to reflush, and is beautifully bright green. I care not for Minuteman nor Patriot, so they were chosen as sacrificial lambs. Fragrant Queen is a duplicate, nonessential. Alabama Gold well I wanted a hometown boy to be among the volunteers. For good reason I call it the experimental driveway bed. It runs along the driveway on the west side of the house. Neighbors to the south have water oaks, sweetgum, and camphor trees along an unmaintained yard. It is fairly dry and I water this area lightly. We have good rainfall annually so this is tough love. One which is doing beautifully all season long is Millies Memoirs, a medium....See MoreOther favorite forums here and why?
Comments (7)Pets- I'm a 3rd year vet student and want to help. Plus there are tons of really great people with excellent advice on training and other non-medical issues with pets. It's a great forum for me to both give and receive advice. Animal debates- I think that as a future vet, it is important for me to know where people get their information on certain topics and how they feel about certain things. So although I don't always participate in the debates, I do read them a lot. Home decorating- that's my favorite forum, hands down. Mostly because of the people on the forum, how they can be so helpful and really give you another perspective on your decorating dilemnas. They are also excellent resources for saving money- the more you can do yourself, the more money you save. They also know where to get good stuff cheap. I've totally transformed my plain tract home on a budget with the help of the people on that forum. They are wonderful! Household Finances- I usually glance at that one, but not so much now that Dave is gone. Stupid moderators- he was a HUGE asset to the forum, a wealth of information. Now the forum is not as helpful to me. Not that others don't have good advice too, but he really explained things in terms I understood. Marriage- I used to look at that one a lot, but lately it's been so depressing with all the cheating and major problems. I don't seem to have anything in common with the most recent posters, being in a happy marriage and all....See MoreDo you have your flat screen TV on something other than a console
Comments (26)Thanks fot the ideas and pics. Now that I know about remote control extenders (thanks, Natal) I may have more options. I plan to hit a couple of antique shops this weekend to see what I see. The real issue is the width of the space (meaning how wide the console/whatever can be). Ideally it would be around 48" so while I like the idea of a sideboard type of piece, most will be too big. OTOH, I did find a regular ol' console at Room & Board that I like a lot, so I could always go that route. Still holding out for a while to see if I find something cool, though!...See MoreThe Kitchen Place
