Hi, Patricia, Thank you for your response. It's an office in my home, a small bedroom about 10x10. The window is off to one side and it's 5' tall by about 2 1/2 feet wide. As for the furniture, it's a mishmash. I have an ugly 5-drawer metal file cabinet I'd like to replace. It has a large corner-unit desk that is a light wood color with a black top. I also have another light wood desk in there. I don't have any pictures, but in any case I'd be too embarrassed to post a photo as the room isn't gorgeous as what I always see on this web site! It's just a boring '70s tract house tiny bedroom which serves as my home office. Clients don't visit -- it's just me working in there. Right now the walls are stark white, and the room is in desperate need of paint. I want to keep it light but don't want to do stark white again. I want a light color that will be nice to look at while I slave away at my computer. Thanks for your input :-)

This setup is more pleasing to the eye upon entry and when passing through the hall. Framed corkboards keep the space stylish and a single shelving above keep it's place as a home office. The ottoman could be used from anything to files, disk storage, etc. Open windows would help the space from looking too dark.

Whole-house remodels are a pain to estimate. I would rather estimate the cost to build two new homes than a single whole-house remodel. One approach is to divide the overall scope into a series of smaller remodeling projects where the cost to execute each is estimated based on similar projects. So the quoted price is the sum total cost of a (similar) kitchen remodel, a (similar) bath remodel, a (similar) master bath remodel, etc. This approach precludes any line-item scrutiny of the estimate which is probably a fool's errand anyway because different remodelers will include different tasks under different line items. For example, one might have a line item for demolition that includes any required drywall demolition and another might have the demolition included in a drywall line item because they or their trade partner performs both the demolition and installation of drywall. That said, each quotation should make clear what is included for fixtures, appliances, cabinetry, etc. either by stating the specific make/model information or as a cost allowance.
