Unfortunately I can't recommend a specific refrigerator for you. But I wouldn't want to waste that 6" either. I have counter depth Sub Zeros at home (36" wide, one all freezer, one all fridge). At my vacation home I purchased a standard GE refrigerator and since the kitchen is small we recessed it a few inches into the wall and built out the one cabinet next to it a few inches. There are cabinets above it and on the outside is a floor to soffit panel that matches the cabinets. It certainly isn't the same look as my built in Sub Zeros but you sure can't beat the price and the look isn't bad at all. Most of us grew up with standard depth refrigerators and I don't think you'd lose track of items that are in the back. Plus you can still fit a large pizza box or large serving platters in them- and they don't fit in a counter depth unit.

I think 30" will be kinda strange depth wise. I know on our 30" gas stove the deepest countertop that would work is 26 1/2". I would bring the range out a bit and put a stainless back on it, one advantage to bringing it out like that is that the rear pots/pans will have more room on an Island back.

This has been discussed several times on GW but I notice that they are saying that the search function isn't working too well right now, so that may explain your lack of results. I have 30 inch counters and love them. In fact, they are one of my very favorite things about my kitchen; full extension glides are the other. The architect wasn't sure about them and DH chimed in with him. I held my ground because I knew I wanted them and am so glad that I did. Your lower cabinets will not be quite 30 inches because your counters would be even deeper. I'm sure your cabinetmaker will know what to do about this. What surprised me was that there really wasn't an upcharge for the deeper cabinets with our cabinetmaker. Nice! We did go with shallower (24 inch) cabinet in the corner with the lazy susan and they just installed it with a space between it and the wall. I really didn't want a corner unit that deep. I also love the 15 inch deep uppers. For both upper and lower cabinets, it is amazing what a difference in storage capacity the deeper cabinets make. For me, there really isn't a downside. You have deeper counters so if there is an appliance on the counter, you still have work room and you have extra storage. What's not to love? Thank you mj! I do love to bake and even though it is only the 2 of us I get carried away and then freeze for later :) My soapstone has one tiny chip in it from dropping a glass out of the cabinet. I forget it is there except when I wipe the counter. I have never oiled my stone. It has darkened naturally over time from all the use. I can see the difference as there is a piece of the same stone next to the ovens for a landing zone and it has remained very light. The stone in my sunroom has also remained light w/o oil. My soapstone is Green Mountain and looks exactly like the example on their website. Not many veins . It has proven to be very durable. I love it for kneading bread and rolling out dough as well as pasta etc. I think it is a perfect countertop choice but there are lots of threads here with differing opinions. I do believe that you have to have a quality product/install. Makes all the difference. I hope you will post pics of your baking soon !! c
