I've never seen live oak for sale at a metro Atlanta plant sale - not even the Trees Atlanta one. You might have to go to Savannah and get one there.

It just dawned on me that you may have been at the EARTH DAY celebration at World's Fair Park last April. There were folks there with native plants, farm critters and bee keepers. There were numerous native plant nurseries selling plants and paraphenalia (gardening type). You might do an Internet search to see if Knoxville has put up an Earth Day site yet this year. Or just be on the lookout in late April. It usually happens around the 20th of April, whatever falls on the weekend. ALSO, Ijams (pronounced like Iams) Nature Center has a big native plant sale every year around autumn. They may have a list of the local Native nursery folk. AND Todd Whitcher, who works at Ijams, has a nursery in Park Ridge, right next to Fourth and Gill area. You may be able to reach him and find out where and when local sales are going on. Good information, Xtal, thanks for posting it. I love the look of that plant/weed but can never get it to take off in my garden. Interesting about it being harmful to monarchs though, thanks for sharing that!
