Extra wide sliders; how wide should my curtain rods be?

Hi everyone. I'm finally getting ready to order drapery for our sliding doors, and the large one in our kitchen is really giving me fits. The sliders ( including the minimal trim) are 147 inches across. I'm planning to hang the rod "high and wide," but I just don't know how wide that should be. I would like the drapes to either clear or mostly clear the doors when open, but not take so much wall space that it looks goofy or out of proportion with the space over the doors. We are going very simple; modern pleat drapes in soft white linen on black zip rod hardware with faux rings and French returns. I'm not worried about the drapery covering light switches or outlets and I'm perfectly OK with moving my plants. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
