My parents house is like that, but there’s a wall with a wide doorway into the area with the vanity, so it’s open but also easy to close off by just putting a curtain rail up. It’s also oriented to the room such that if you only use enough light at the vanity to wash your hands for a midnight potty run, it really isn’t enough to bother someone in the bed if you place the bed sensibly. Getting ready in the morning would be trickier if you needed to do makeup and so on so needed proper lighting, so that’s where a screen or a curtain would come in.

I agree with Errant. One large mirror spanning the vanity. I think most people do center themselves over the sink and single mirrors wouldn't be as well placed. I'm not that concerned with the appearance of balance. It's all well and good to have sconces out on the edges, but what about the inside of the face? I have a 60" vanity with a 5-light fixture above. Currently I have 5 40W bulbs and the light (200W) is perfect. BTW, I went with a framed mirror (GW peer pressure) over my vanity and I think they're overrated. I wish I'd gotten a nice unframed beveled mirror the length of my vanity. I may even do that in the near future. Edited to add: I got the wattage wrong in my original post. It's 40 NOT 50w per bulb. Sea Salt is the color we had up first in our master bath. It's gorgeous as well, however it is a very light gray and with the lighting (or lack there of) we have in our master bath it was difficult to see. We ended up repainting in Comfort Gray which is the same color only darker. Comfort Gray and Sea Salt both have a slight tint of green in them, however in some lighting, they do look blue. I love both of these grays you can't go wrong with either of them even in a larger sized space.
