What a nice service for them to provide. I still have my class ring...somewhere.

I've recently learned that some universities have a "lost ring clearing house" available. Texas A&M is the one I've read about.

I didn't know it, but there are people that collect class rings. :0) I thought it was odd anyone would want a ring from a school they'd not attended. ?

Abut a year or so ago DH was walking Georgy through the woods when he spotted what he thought at first was a cigar band but it turned out to be a class ring. It was from a local school so we went to the school and left it with someone in the office. They were able to track down it's rightful owner.....it had his initials, and different emblem s on the ring to signify the different sports this person participated in. Through that and looking at the class book they figured out who it belonged to. The young man was nice enough to call and thank DH. I thought that was impressive. We were just happy that the two were reunited.

Thirty-five years ago my brother lost his university class ring. Twenty-five years ago someone found it in the sand on the beach brother thought he lost it. Samaritan returned very damaged ring to uni. Uni searched year and initials, found brother, returned ring. Brother asked Jostens (I think) if they could repair ring, they did! Amazing.

At my 50th high school reunion in August I complimented a classmate on his school ring. He told me that he had lost the high school mascot symbol and his ring was very worn and he sent it to Josten's. They replaced the mascot and cleaned up the ring so that it looked wonderful. All at no charge. Now that is fantastic customer service!

Jostens will re-size class rings at no charge. I had mine re-sized (slightly larger), and gave it to my DD.

I found a class ring in the sand at the beach. I emailed the school's headmaster who located the owner through his initials in the band. She said he wouldn't get it back until he wrote me a thank you note and reimbursed me for my postage to mail it back. I said postage was not necessary. Never got a thank you note. This should have been a lesson for this young man. Glad to have returned it nonetheless.

Someone on Craigslist found a school ring and I got involved and helped find the owner through a lot of communications and trying to figure out which school it was. I didn't know the person, or the school, but it was fun to solve the mystery.

I keep my high school ring on my car key ring. It's a neat ring and it beats leaving it in a jewelry box.

My husband had his father's graduation ring from his university in a wooden box my husband made. It was on his bedside table when the flood happened. When he was able to get back in the house he went to look for it. The water had such a current going through the house things were just piled up and in different rooms. He found the wooden box in the bedroom but it was empty. He searched as best he could in the Debris and sludge. When the group from the southern Baptist convention came to help he told them about the ring. They said let's go look. So they all went to the bedroom moved some furniture around and gave my husband a flashlight. He crawled behind the bed and shined the light across the wall and there was the ring! I don't think it was just lucky. He was so happy he was in tears. In all that huge mess and sludge ankle deep it was a miracle he found that ring. He also found a small coin purse that had been in one of my dresser drawers with $300 in it, my emergency stash. I was amazed. We realized our antique slot machine that we have had since we got married is gone too. No idea where it went. I can't imagine anyone thinking it's OK to throw it out. It was quite valuable. But that ring was amazing.
