Coastal SC Tomato Winners
Comments (2)I wish I had the perfect answer to your question. Growing tomatoes in the southeastern heat and humidity is difficult. For what it is worth here is my approach. Grow in containers with a length of cotton clothesline rope placed around the inside bottom and pulled through a drainage hole as a wick. Set pots up on bricks for drainage. Morning sun, afternoon shade. The varieties that set fruit fairly well in heat for me are: Florida 91 VFF Hybrid Persimmon Solar Fire VFFF Hybrid Floralina VFFFA Hybrid Creole And I plan to try Thai Red Turtle Egg from Heirloom Seeds this year based on comments by posters on the Tomato Forum....See MoreQuestion: How the Sabal Palmettos are doing in VA,NC and SC?
Comments (100)Thanks Lago Mar... I live off of Great Neck... Lots of damaged ones around here, it just so sad. I have seen some that have green pushing now.. So if they would clean them up, they would look a lot better. I'm not sure of the damage to the big Sabal, but I did have one at our business and I did lose if after a few years. The trunk is peeling away, but it is looking green and lush, so I'm not sure what this is. The good news is that all of the tress in the back yard will survive including the questioned Butias.. I just need to trim the Sabals and just be patient with Mother Nature. I did have to get rid of the other Butias in the front yard. It wasn't planted very deep and was the youngest of them all.. I'm very happy tho.. Thanks for asking. I hope you didn't have any losses? Take care and have a wonderful holiday weekend!!! Laura...See MoreFern-Type Weed ID

Comments (7)Chispa, Thank you very much for responding to my "plea". Your idea of figuring allowances prior to is spot on. I recently found a great interior designer to work with and that's one of her mantras. We have planned two to three days of appointments with kitchen, bath, lighting & flooring vendors over 3 days the week of Monday, Nov 9 which is the first full day I'll be in town. The plans have already been sent out for bids with a side note about the likelihood of allowance "upgrades". I wanted to wait until we had those numbers to send out with our request for bids but my husband told me to push thru due to the fact we're "locked" in on a construction mortgage loan. Locked in unless and until interest rates rise which is what my husband thinks is going to happen soon....See MoreUser
